Nikon N70

Consumer Democracy
15 October 2002
  • Summary: This is my second Nikon SLR. My first one, model AF, lasted for almost 20 years without ever requiring service. (The built in exposure metering system "died" suddenly and no repair parts were available). The N70, since replaced by the N80 has far more features (for about the same cost when adjusted for inflation), including a very accurate auto-focus system, and a very accurate built-in metering system.
  • Pros: Somewhat heavy, some features are not intuititve
  • Cons: Somewhat heavy, some features are not intuititve

Nikon N70 Cameras - SLR Review

Consumer Democracy
7 October 2002
  • Summary: This is a fine camera - design is thoughtful and ergonomic, with a nice weight and feel to the camera body (i.e., not too light). Because of the complexity and diversity of features to the camera, there is a rather extended learning curve to begin to really use the features of the camera beyond simple pointing and shooting, and allowing the camera to make all the decisions about focusing and exposure.
  • Pros: Overall quality and flexibility of camera beyond basic point and shoot operation is a real plus.

Nikon D70 - dream camera

tangosier..., Ciao
6 May 2005
  • Excerpt: "...they looked cheap and nasty. The Nikon D70 was born and I eagerly awaited the test reports - I was hooked and ordered one. So much was the demand that it took me 7 weeks to get my hands on it. I have never looked back - I sold all my Canon gear amd have been taking digital photographs ever since. The quality of the D70, like its handling is superb, it feel right, not to large but again not to small. It has handled any job I have tried without letting ...

A great digital camera

Milkspass, Ciao

  • Excerpt: "We are before a digital camera of last technology. It has everything what could have a camera, only it lacks a few wings to be able to fly. It is a question of a very compact camera and that, to have all the complements and utilities that it has, it is not also very difficult to handle. One month ago I decided to buy me a digital camera and allowed myself the caprice advised by a friend, of buying me this jewel. Probably machine is too much for ...
  • Pros: It's very complete
  • Cons: More expensive

  • Excerpt: The F70 gets a lot of stick for being a difficult camera to use. Granted the user interface harks back to a time when push button control was favoured over the now standard top plate dials seen on many SLRs. But spend some time getting to know your F70 and you'll fall in love with its vast range of photograpic options which dazzled the camera market when it was first unveiled back in 1994. Despite its age many of these features are still impressive.
  • Cons: "LCD no backlit"

  • Excerpt: I have a Nikon F70 from some year, practically from when it was put in commerce. I will not spend my time (and your) describing the Nikon quality: body and lens are optimal. The thing that I have found most interesting is the programs: if as an example the program "People" is selected the camera chooses automatically the best combination speed/aperture in order to obtain a perfect photo of the subject, and wanting, there is a range of other combinations speed/aperture...

Good but flawed

kingbing, Ciao
10 November 2000
  • Excerpt: "...basically flawed. Most people choose between Nikon and Canon. I'm a Nikon user because I value the fact that they are more robust and there's greater compatability. That's tru of the F70. However other may choose the Canon's beacuse hey are lighter and easier to use. The F70 represents the best and worst of Nikon. It's a well made camera with plenty of features for the advanced amateur. It's has a high max shutter speed and a good flash sync ...

  • Excerpt: "This Camera is an excellant easy to use camera its very comfy in your hand I brought it because I though it was a good make and I new other people who had them who said that they were Excellent. It is a good value for money and If you are a beginner but are trying to do advanced photgraphy then I would try this camera. It is also easy to fix to tripods and is very light weight. They also look very expensive but they are fairly cheap. They are very ...

  • Excerpt: If you are thinking of buying a Nikon F70 i would say that you are already half way to deciding on getting a great camera. The F70 is one of the finest camera around As long as you use it with the Nikon range of lenses You should have no problems. it has eight programs for differing photographic subjects. Small tip - to activate the programs you must be on F22. When you buy the Nikon F70 you will be given the choice of two lenses. Either a 28-80mm or 35-80mm.
