Summary: I wouldn't use any of the big grips that take AA cells unless if I was shooting hundreds of rolls a day, which I don't think anyone does anymore. Use an AA grip if you really want vertical controls and don't mind a huge camera.
Summary: If you still choose to shoot with film, the EOS-1v is a definite high end choice. It's a pro-quality camera without the pro quality price. Performance is above par with some of today's speedy digital SLRs, and the build quality is top notch. The long-life shutter and moisture and dust resistance add up to a camera that can provide many years of enjoyment.
Excerpt: The following review is made from the perspective of an EOS-3 owner. I've been using two of these bodies for the past year or so, one of them with the PB-E2 motor base. I've been fairly happy with them, but with a few gripes. The EOS-1V seems to have addressed several of these.
