Seth Hopper, Amazon
24 September 2015
  • Summary: To everyone saying you can't turn off the plasmawave feature, ozone is dangerous, etc-- here's how to disable it permanently (it's really easy): Unplug the unit. Remove front cover. Remove screw near the air quality sensor to access the ribbon cable to the control panel. Unplug ribbon cable.

Sugar Glider owner is now a super happy owner!

M, Amazon
16 March 2015
  • Summary: I can say this much in my search for an air cleaner, anything that puts ions in the air or zaps the air with uv lights, I will pass on it. The more that gets added on, the more I call it "fancy marketing". All I wanted was a simple air cleaner that filters the air and filters odors.

Powerful aid for allergy sufferers

Toby Garcia, Amazon
10 December 2014
  • Summary: Light preface - I purchased this air purifier in May 2012. I'm only just reviewing because a) I think reviews should be based on time as much as "out of the box" conditions, and b) I forgot to review earlier. Like most - I bought this system to combat heavy dust and pet dander allergies.

  • Summary: In reviewing several air purifiers, I found the Winix PlasmaWave 5300 to be the most effective True Hepa Air Filter for the money. I have had no issues with this device and am very happy with it. I have asthma and it seems to really help the air quality in my bedroom.
  • Pros: reliable, easy to use, met my expectations

Chase, Amazon
27 June 2014
  • Summary: Spring 2014 here in the Houston area came and beat me and my wife into the ground. We would wake up with our eyes burning, sneezing, scratchy throats and not having rested very well. We would suck down allergy pills just to be able to sleep..

Save money on filters by reading this review

Financeguy, Amazon
21 June 2014
  • Summary: This is a great product. I have been using it heavily for a couple years now. After a finishing my basement it left quite a bit of dust floating around. This thing was extremely helpful. The only negative thing I have to say is how ridiculously expensive filter replacement is for it.

PlasmaWave stinks!

Chris., Amazon
19 November 2013
  • Summary: I was using this regularly and noticed that the wall behind the machine started looking "dirty" which the plasma wave is supposed to prevent! As someone who keeps a very clean home and regularly cleaned behind and around the machine this was very surprising.

Beware! Terrible at cleaning dust!

Atlas, Amazon
18 November 2013
  • Summary: I bought this product to eliminate floating dust in a 10x15 room. I've had it for about 8 months. The auto feature does not work at all detecting any level of dust in the room (it powers on though if you spray any cologne anywhere in the house).
