Summary: In reviewing several air purifiers, I found the Winix PlasmaWave 5300 to be the most effective True Hepa Air Filter for the money. I have had no issues with this device and am very happy with it. I have asthma and it seems to really help the air quality in my bedroom. I would (and have) recommended it to others!
Summary: This is a great product. I have been using it heavily for a couple years now. After a finishing my basement it left quite a bit of dust floating around. This thing was extremely helpful. The only negative thing I have to say is how ridiculously expensive filter replacement is for it. I recently discovered that the HF-300 True Hepa Filter will work just fine with the Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner model. The cost is only $23 right now comared to $63.99!!
Summary: I have dust mite and mold spore allergies. If you're buying this thinking you won't have to regularly clean your room or sheets, you'll be disappointed. To get maximum effectiveness it needs to be in conjunction with regular sheet washing and vacuuming. It does however work... sometimes quite humorously. I say this in all seriousness... if you have this on auto mode and pass gas in the room the thing will go into turbo mode. No joke.
Summary: This is an awesome HEPA filter that moves a large volume of air quietly. Period. I know it gets the dust out of the air because when light shines through my window, I can see no dust particles in the light beam like I could before I got the filter. I can feel a substantial amount of air blowing out of the top exhaust vent on fan speed 2, which is still quiet. I find the sound pleasant (with PlasmaWave turned off). I use it for a white noise machine in my bedroom.
Summary: I was using this regularly and noticed that the wall behind the machine started looking "dirty" which the plasma wave is supposed to prevent! As someone who keeps a very clean home and regularly cleaned behind and around the machine this was very surprising. "Winix's own PlasmaWaveTM works differently than many of the other air cleaning technologies.
Summary: I bought this product to eliminate floating dust in a 10x15 room. I've had it for about 8 months. The auto feature does not work at all detecting any level of dust in the room (it powers on though if you spray any cologne anywhere in the house). It does a poor job on dust even when the machine is cranked up to turbo. I had a 15 year old Bionaire that did a better job before it finally died. I think there are better options out there. NOT RECOMMENDED!
Summary: I chose this model because of high reviews and for the features it offered. The first two weeks it works perfectly on Auto...adjusting its speed according to needs of the room and it removed all odors. Sometime between 2 and 3 weeks though we started to notice odors again. I unplugged it in hopes of resetting but to no avail...the unit simply stops working on Auto mode forcing us to manually choose low med or high.
Summary: After using my Winix for about a week now I feel that I can give an accurate review. This air Purifier works great! First, I want to say that I have never owned an air purifier but decided to get one since I've suffered with allergies for years. I also needed something for my basement. I was borderline unable to breath down there at all, with the dust and the order.. Secondly, prior to my Winix I purchased a 3-n-1 Germguardian.
Summary: Since i moved to a new apartment 2 years ago, I've had runny nose on weekend only. Because I spent most of my day at home on weekend, it must be my apartment that is causing the problem. Now the problem is gone thanks to this air purifier, so it works. There are few things that i would liked 5300 would be able to do: 1. Permanently turn off PlasmaWave.
