Summary: I purchased this air filter because my husband has allergies and our trashy downstairs neighbors smoked in their home. I'm not even sure how well it cleaned the air, but we had it running every night for about 6 months before it started making horrible noises.
Summary: I bought two of these air purifiers for my daughters family. They live in California and their neighbors smoke heavily and due to poor construction of their townhouse they have a strong smoke smell in their townhouse coming from the unit next to theirs.
Summary: Generally nice unit, however there's a Holmes unit which is almost identical except for the control panel. The Holmes uses the same motor, fan blades and filters, but it tries to direct the air straight out. It is very forceful.
Summary: Ordered 2 right off the bat, one for each of our 2 houses. Its a little loud when its running on high, but it was quick to do its thing and kick down. Its set on auto and kicks on as needed. I have a dog and cat as well as foster kittens. I also have allergies. It really does helpe make life easier.
Summary: Auto mode, which cycles between low medium and high settings as needed, is a great feature. Optional ionizer also is a plus. It's easy to set up and intuitive to operate. The permanent filter should save hundreds in the long term.
BACK GRILL *EXTREMELY* DIFFICULT TO REFIT!! Be Warned

Summary: The machine works well. But, and a very BIG BUT, come to cleaning the filters the trouble really starts. After PRIZING the back grill off, the perma filters are easily damaged by the use of an upholstery brush as indicated by the instructions, so DON'T use a brush just the vacuum's bear handle.
Summary: I was lucky enough to grab this at a substantial clearance discount at a local retailer. I like the idea of air filters but am always leary of the replacement filter cost. This unit is supposed to allow you to not have to replace filters, but I will have to see how that actaully works over time.
Summary: My daughter, a college student, spent the better part of first semester sick. Doctors couldn't figure out what it was, but all her fellow students knew it was her dormitory ---- a 10-story building built in the 1960s.
Summary: One of the reasons I purchased the Bionaire was because I liked the sleek modern design. When it arrived, there was an informational sticker on the unit with adhesive that was impossible to completely remove. Additionally, the cover seemed to have no latches on it so it had to be taped in place.
