Soleus Air PH5-13R-35D

Wyndel H., Newegg
2 September 2014
  • Pros: Kept my room cold with no humidity. It was easy to install and it only took me less then 20 mins to get it running smooth. This AC took 2hrs to break in which is a lot faster then the other brand i bought that broke. I bought this this AC because i have a gaming computer that's made my room hot and humid.
  • Cons: The only con i can think of is the noise its at 40db. I don't have the AC on all the time so the noise doesn't bother me.

Works good so far

Matt R., Newegg

  • Summary: I purchased mine on last year's Black Friday (great price)and just tried it for the first time last week when we had some heat. Cooled and dehumidified when the ambient temp was about 95. It will be interesting to see how well it works when it is really hot an moved from room to room. Definite glad I purchased the 13000 BTU unit. That way it won't struggle to cool a room.
  • Pros: High power 13000 BTU great for cooling larger rooms. Easy to use once setup. Remote is simple to use and works well from what I tested about 20 ft away at a 45 degree angle. Unit is not too big and stores easily in the corner of a room. Fairly quiet and does not affect TV watching. Oscillating louvers is a nice feature.
  • Cons: Because of the twin tube exahust design, the window exhaust plate does not allow for much adjustment to fit into different (height or length) windows once you cut it to size. READ THE INSTALLATION MANUAL CAREFULLY! The instructions are a little weak and not enough picures.

Works just as good as a LG unit

Mr. G., Newegg
30 June 2012
  • Summary: A dual tube intake/exhaust design is not the norm for portable indoor heat pump units and to suggest that this unit is not designed correctly from that standpoint is false, this model is the dual model (35D). If you want the single exhaust model, what a previous poster is referring to, then purchase the 35S. My only reccommendations are to add weather stripping to all the sides of the window/door exhaust insert so that it seals in the window, door, etc.
  • Pros: For a heat pump unit the price is very competitive. Works great for room sizes up to 500 sq. ft. Manufactured in Walnut Canyon CA. More quiet than the popular LG units sold at HD stores.
  • Cons: Exhaust window insert could have been engineered a little better for single hung windows, seems to be designed with slider windows or sliding glass doors in mind. Ambient operating temperature is only up to 109F so it is not good for those hot desert locations that regularly hit 110F.

Purchased 9, April 2010 - Failed Nov. 2010

  • Summary: Customer service is slow and definitely requires that you have receipt of purchase before they will consider helping you.
  • Pros: Heat pump works well. Less noise than other models I've dealt with.
  • Cons: Air conditioning ices over easily. Intake is very powerful which (a minus in my opinion) pulls air from any cracks or areas in your room not sealed tightly. Dehumidifier does not work well. Unit failed to operate (attached video) after 8 months.
