My Sharp CV-P10NC only blows at 5 minutes interval. why?

I have a Sharp CV-P10NC portable. Ever since I purchased it, it keeps blowing cool air at five minutes interval. Is this the norm? What should I do? How do others get t to blow continuously? Besides, when it stops blowing cool air, it blows a light warm air which is a reverse through the exhaust. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
