12,000 BTU??..we're talking about the same BTU system, right?

sean, Amazon
28 August 2013
  • Summary: Location: north AL time of review: aug 28, 2013 temp at time of review: 79F, 72% humidity If this were a wall AC unit, I'd expect it to be in the realm of 2000 BTU. Maybe something USB powered that I could carry around airports. I just bought it new tonight, and with my wife and I both staring at it as though something magical would happen, we used our phones to time how long the compressor stayed on while in my garage.

I recommend this product

Terri Gassman, Amazon
15 August 2013
  • Summary: I love this air conditioner. It came out of the box ready to use and cooled the house down quickly. The water does need to be drained on a daily bases. and you need a low walled bowl or lid to drain it. It also drains slowly but I still love it.

Not bad

Michael Adam cassity, Amazon
13 August 2013
  • Summary: This was a good product. I found that in order to cool a 450 sqft apartment with vaulted ceilings I should have got a little bit of a bigger btu air conditioner. Now to break it down this AC if left on over night (even in the auto setting) it will cool the entire apartment down to freezing, no lie. This temp will stay in the house till about noon then I find that the AC has trouble keeping the house below 85 on a summer day in AZ.

Buy a Window AC

Jesse Spring, Amazon
10 July 2013
  • Summary: Window AC are not attractive or are portable AC an impulsive purchase: I wanted to be able to look out the window and planed to use old window AC for different building. Reviews for this portable AC seemed good. After installing the portable AC did notice the portable unit takes up space in the room, and standing at the window is not practicable.

Great Way to Cool Smaller Areas!

Susan E. Fitch, Amazon
10 July 2013
  • Summary: I ordered this unit because I bought a historic home in the US but live overseas most of the year where electricity rates are extremely low. I was worried that my old house would cause me to have a very high utility bill, so I planned on only cooling the specific areas where I needed it while I was home for the summer. While I haven't received a bill yet, I can say that this unit works incredibly well.

Empty the water every couple of hours!?!

MTizzy1379, Amazon
3 July 2013
  • Summary: The unit fills with water every couple of hours and shuts itself off. I have to ask my husband to empty it since I am 9 months pregnant and the machine is too awkward and bulky for me to deal with. The unit takes up too much room in storage during the off-season. I do not recommend this product.

No bueno in hot weather

John E. Wallace, Amazon
8 June 2013
  • Summary: I owned this air conditioner for a couple of years. It works OK until the compressor gets hot and shuts down until it cycles again. Not good in Texas where it's hot 24hrs a day. The unit would cool about 10 mins an hour. It could not keep my 10'X 15' office cool after May 15.
