Summary: We have had this cooler for about six weeks and it has exceeded our expectations. The initial smell faded after about three hours. Our chemically sensitive family member was fine with it after that. This machine is smaller, but much more powerful, than our previous cooler (Convair Millennia). We appreciate the "swing" feature. The water port is large and easy to use without splashing. We haven't used the ice feature, but again, access is easy and is amply sized.
Summary: We had to replace our old evaporative air cooler and I did a bunch of research and came up with this. What was a pleasant surprise is that my uncle had done similar research and came up with the same results so I was sold. There is an area up top that you can put ice in to help cool down the air even more and I'm sure you could probably put ice in the main tank to make all the water cold.
Summary: It's a humidifier. The moment the ice cubes run out -- and they run out quickly, like in 10-15 mins -- this is just pumping (warm) mist into your environment. Great for airplanes and the Sahara. Pluses: light less than 30 lbs, well made good plastic construction, wheels rolls around easily, easy to clean, not too noisy compared to traditional compressor-type portable a/c units.
Works pretty well but its not the quietest device in the world

Summary: Works pretty well but its not the quietest device in the world. Large capacity is a massive plus. I can't comment on how well it cools a room as I have used it in tents and other open areas where the cooling factor has been impacted. I will say that it has taken the edge off things. Would probably work in an area better suited for it with a normal ceiling and walls.

Summary: As others have mentioned, it is fairly noisy even on the low setting. Cooled air coming out is not super cold, but it made a big difference in a large loft area where I needed it. Some open ventilation is recommended by Honeywe.
Spend a little more and get an actual air conditioner.

Summary: This "cooler" is basically just a huge, noisy fan. Even when loaded with ice every few minutes, the air it produces is only slightly cooler than you would get from a large fan. To maximize what little cooling it provides, make sure you don't fill the water tank to max. The ice on top melts into the tank in just a few minutes and you have to add more ice to try to cool the water in the tank.
