Works well at cooler temperatures

  • Excerpt: I bought this for an extended porch room that we added on to our house. We did not want to run additional air conditioning ducts into this addition, so we tried this window unit. It fit well into the window that we used it for. It is quite large and did take up a large amount of the window, which restricted the light coming in. We used this unit for a 400 square foot room, and it had different setting for temperature cold.

Don't fall for the hype

  • Excerpt: The Haier thru-wall or window unit air conditioner has to be one of the worst one on the market. We purchased one of these last summer because it was energy star rated, bragged about it being super quite and the low price. That was a bunch of lies. For such a compact size compared to most window units the noise put off while it is running is almost unbearable.

Haier Thru-Wall/Window Air Conditioner

  • Excerpt: We got this air conditioner on sale one very hot summer. We have had terribly hot summers the past few years and we are trying all we can to keep the electric bill down. We got this air conditioner for our bedroom. We are trying to just cool the rooms we use the most rather than cool the whole house. This air conditioner does a pretty good job for the money.

Cheap but I don't think it works too well

  • Excerpt: I bought this air conditioner online and it was pretty cheap. It was easy to install in my window and seemed to be working well for the first couple of months. However, right now, either my room has gotten bigger or the air conditioner no longer works as well as it did at first. It takes forever to cool my small room and thus fails in its most important function. I must admit however that the air conditioner looks nice and not too overbearing in my window.

  • Excerpt: We purchased one of these a/c units from Target a couple years ago. It has been through a MAJOR hailstorm (one that damaged the roof of the building and the siding). The a/c got some pretty bad dings, but here we are summer #3 just kicking up and it is still working great. Cools our master bedroom efficiently.

  • Excerpt: Three years ago we purchased our Haier air conditioner to fit in our basement window because it was inexpensive and we were hot! We just needed a basement ac to cool us while we slept. We immediately fell in love and moved it to the main floor because it cooled so well. We have not had any problems at all....works great doesn't freeze and is so affordable. It was much cheaper and performs better then our other air conditioner.

Great until it gets really hot..

  • Excerpt: I got this air conditioner for my 800 sq foot house, hoping that it would keep at least my living room and kitchen cool. When temperatures were in the mid to high 70's, it worked great. I had autoprogrammed it to keep things around 72. When it got to be in the mid 80's, I raised the autotemp to 76. The thing still ran constantly and seemed like it never stopped. The best aspect of it was that it did not increase my energy bills nearly what I thought it would.

  • Excerpt: I bought this one it was on sale at best buy. It was easy to install in the window so no problem with that. My bedroom which is where I have it is a small room so I was expecting a better put out.It works OK but takes more than a few minutes to 'cool' the room off. it never really gets to were it's cold.Still it's OK for the price. I got it for $99 plus taxes. So it beats having nothing at all on a really ,really hot day! It's a bit noisy but not unbearable.

  • Excerpt: We bought this air conditioner last summer when it was really, really hot. It works well in small places but not in large ones. It's noisy and it takes a while to cool the room. The side flips attached well and easily to my window.
