Summary: Bought first unit in July 2012. Its fan broke in a month. By the time company, repaired it, it was winter already. Started using again in summer of 2013. Its fan broke again in a month. Company replaced at the beginning of winter. Started using again in July 2014. Today is July 18 and its fan broke this morning.
Summary: After being told portable units don't work very well I was pleasantly surprised how powerful the fan was and how quickly it lowered the temperature. Installed in living room window with vertical sliding windows. Window kit not that easy to fit ; required a lot of duct tape to seal the gaps. Cooled down an open plan living room, dining room and kitchen rapidly and efficiently. Unit is just as noisy as window unit and user manual is very poor.
Summary: I have an 1160 sq ft home and I use this a/c to cool the main floor. To put this unit's abilities into perspective, if the outside temp. is 28 degrees, I can get my main floor down to 25 degrees. That involves closing all bedroom/bathroom doors on the main floor and only cooling the living room, front entrance, small kitchen, and a hallway. The temperature around the unit would be lower (around 22-23 degrees) but the hallway temperature cools down to 25 degrees.
Summary: Do not get a portable air conditioner if you can help it. My 8000 BTU non-portable worked way better (and it was 4000 BTU less than this one). It is also noisy, but most air conditioners are. Its not the greatest, but it still slightly cools my living room/ kitchen.
Summary: A little noisey but certainly does the trick. We have had the unit for a few years now and haven't had any problems. eg.- Room temp. without unit operating 83 degrees / unit turned on with temp. set at 68 degrees the room a very comfortable 68 and maintained "till" machine shuts down. Thank you Haier !
Summary: I've had this unit for a couple of years now alongside a Danby unit. This one is lighter and doesn't require emptying a condensation tank every day when it's really muggy. The hoses are a bit of a pain in the butt, but I find that's the case with both units. I've made my own window mounts out of sheets of rigid plastic and it makes life a little easier when dealing with a window that doesn't neatly fit the mount that comes with the unit.
