Summary: The product does a very good job of heating and cooling, but it's a little noisy for a bedroom, which is what I bought it for. I was surprised to learn that cold air is exhausted from the back when using the unit to heat. For this reason, the exhaust needs to be expelled out of a window for heating as well as for cooling. This fact is not a problem but it is something a buyer should be aware of. I'm using it in a 400 square foot space and it effectivly heats and cools.
Summary: We use this unit in our garage and it heats and cools to perfection. The versatility of a single unit providing both heat and air conditioning, is awesome and well worth the money. This unit is a bargain for how well it performs.
As Others Mentioned, Terrible Product and even more Terrible Company!!!

Summary: First off, let me just give you a bit of general advice towards purchasing a portable AC. If you are debating between a portable and a traditional in window unit, save yourself the headache and stick with the in-window unit. They don't come close to cooling your room like a traditional in-window unit does. Get a portable ONLY if you 1)Can't install a window/wall unit and/or 2) Already have central air and this is just to SUPPLEMENT the cooling.
Summary: DO NOT BUY A HAIER PRODUCT!!! They are the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They do not care about their customers at all. No one in customer service knows what they are doing and all they do is lie to you. No one ever responses to my emails. No one ever calls me back when customer service tells you someone will. Their product failed to work right out of the box and getting a replacement has been a nightmare.
Summary: Brand New Haier Portable AC part #CPN12XH9 did not work out of the box, it just gave an E2 error code. There is no error code sheet or maintenance manual with the product or available anywhere online. Haier customer service will not supply an error code sheet or maintenance manual either. Call them if you do not believe it 1-877-337-3639.

Summary: I've been researching these 'portable air conditioner' for awhile and saw that many of them had poor reviews. I was leery about getting one but a window unit was not an option so I eventually bought the Haier HPF12XHM-LP which is similar to this machine in that it has 12,000 BTU air conditioner but also has an 11,000 BTU heater. I live in South Carolina (hot, humid summers) and work nights, so therefore have to sleep during the heat of the day.
Summary: Although we have central air our large upstairs bedroom was never cool enough for comfortable sleeping in the summer. A window air conditioner was not an option because of esthetics and home owner association rules. I learned a co-worker had bought one of these and was very satisfied so I purchsed one. Loved the design and the setup was easy. The unit performed as advertised for two summers.
Summary: The unit works well. It is not too noisy, and it does not leak. The problem that I have with it is that it cannot handle temperatures hotter than 86 degrees F. The unit has a compact compressor. At hotter than 86 degrees F the unit overheats and shuts itself down. So I am looking for a unit that does not have an efficient compact compressor that overheats in hot temperatures.
Summary: I have owned two similar units for 9 years with no issues. I wanted to get new models to replace the old ones. The first night, I tried to use the heating option, and the unit just blew frigid air from the back opening. I called Haier the next morning, and was told that, unlike the older models, the new units must be vented to the outside throughout the winter months in order for the heating option to work efficiently.
Haier AC evaporates condensate back into the air; be cautious if you have sinuses that are sensitive to humidity

Summary: Ok, if you have a two story home or loft, you probably have figured out by now, that you need supplemental AC in the hottest part of the summer, because so many HVAC systems (duct/vent work) are so poorly designed(really, check out your home or condo). Ok, this unit is powerful for a large room, 18x18, and does cool it down. However, I cannot sleep with it all night as I will awake with a nice sore throat the next morning.
