Summary: Got this unit to take camping (we have an exhaust port in the tent). We had it plugged in to the campground electricity which is strong enough to power a motor home. The unit will run fine, even for a couple hours, but then when the AC condenser would TRY to turn back on, it would just make a strange hum, eventually tripping the breaker. We thought it was bad wiring on the campground end. So we brought it home and the same thing happened at home.
Excerpt: I purchased the Haier Portable Air Conditioner Haier because my apartment didn't have sufficient heating and cooling. I purchased this unit during a major heatwave in the mid-west and I was willing to pay just about anything to stay cool. I ended up purchasing this unit for a decent price. The weight of this unit was very light to load up into my truck. I was able to install this unit in less than 20 minutes.
Summary: The product does a very good job of heating and cooling, but it's a little noisy for a bedroom, which is what I bought it for. I was surprised to learn that cold air is exhausted from the back when using the unit to heat. For this reason, the exhaust needs to be expelled out of a window for heating as well as for cooling. This fact is not a problem but it is something a buyer should be aware of. I'm using it in a 400 square foot space and it effectivly heats and cools.
Summary: We use this unit in our garage and it heats and cools to perfection. The versatility of a single unit providing both heat and air conditioning, is awesome and well worth the money. This unit is a bargain for how well it performs.
As Others Mentioned, Terrible Product and even more Terrible Company!!!

Summary: First off, let me just give you a bit of general advice towards purchasing a portable AC. If you are debating between a portable and a traditional in window unit, save yourself the headache and stick with the in-window unit. They don't come close to cooling your room like a traditional in-window unit does. Get a portable ONLY if you 1)Can't install a window/wall unit and/or 2) Already have central air and this is just to SUPPLEMENT the cooling.
Summary: DO NOT BUY A HAIER PRODUCT!!! They are the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They do not care about their customers at all. No one in customer service knows what they are doing and all they do is lie to you. No one ever responses to my emails. No one ever calls me back when customer service tells you someone will. Their product failed to work right out of the box and getting a replacement has been a nightmare.
Excerpt: When I was in the throes of menopause, my central air conditioner went out. The cost of a new system was over $6000 and it was the end of August, so we thought we would put off getting a new central air conditioner until the next spring. But I HAD to have some comfort at night until the cool weather set in. So we went to HH Gregg and purchased a Haier Portable Air Conditioner to put in our den until bedtime and then move into the bedroom at night.
Excerpt: This is a good unit to have, it looks nice the design is appealing not horrible like some that I looked at. It does the job of cooling when you cannot put in a window unit. Only negative is the window kit for it needs some work. It cools much better than I thought it would so I was very impressed, well worth the sticker price.
Summary: Although we have central air our large upstairs bedroom was never cool enough for comfortable sleeping in the summer. A window air conditioner was not an option because of esthetics and home owner association rules. I learned a co-worker had bought one of these and was very satisfied so I purchsed one. Loved the design and the setup was easy. The unit performed as advertised for two summers.
Summary: The unit works well. It is not too noisy, and it does not leak. The problem that I have with it is that it cannot handle temperatures hotter than 86 degrees F. The unit has a compact compressor. At hotter than 86 degrees F the unit overheats and shuts itself down. So I am looking for a unit that does not have an efficient compact compressor that overheats in hot temperatures.
