Summary: We have owned several Frigidaire units in the lower BTU range. Some have been less durable and developed random noises. Industry db level ratings indicate they are among the quietest, however, and this model offers several nice features such as advanced cycle programming, ionization, and timers. So far it has run quiet and has done its job well.
Summary: I returned this A/C the next day. I might have exchanged it to see if I'd just gotten a bad one, but the construction was too flimsy, and the buzzing filter door was very bad engineering and quality control - totally avoidable if anyone at Frigidaire really cared.
Pros: Made cold air
Cons: Not just noisy but very annoying - the noises from the compressor and fan are at a particularly irritating frequency and the filter cover buzzes constantly. Much worse than our other three window units from 3 manufacturers and outputs. One is a 20 year old whisper quiet Kenmore made by Frigidaire. Things have changed for the worse
Excerpt: While this unit does cool the room, that is its only redeeming quality. Way too loud except on it lowest setting, which is not high enough for the 100+ degree days. Also makes annoying clicking or scratchy sounds when it runs. Don't like this unit at all. By far, the most disappointing purchase I've made in an a/c unit, but had to replace an older unit that quit on me during the heat wave. Only one I could find in this size (6,000 BTU's).
Summary: I can't guarantee that the current version is as good as mine, but I will say that my family has had excellent experiences with Frigidaire products (my two AC units are on their 6th summer, and my mother's Frigidaire refrigerator lasted almost 40 years). COOLS LARGER AREA THAN STATED: Because I didn't want to buy an 8000 Btu unit, I took a chance on this, and I lucked out -- it cools an L-shaped area that's about 300 sq. ft. even though it's rated for 216 ft.
Summary: Awesome compact reliable unit that is very well constructed. The only draw back is there is not a drainage hole. Very easy to add if you are very careful when drilling. Highly recommended. Freezing cold air!
Summary: (I did not buy this one from Newegg, that's another story. :) *To quiet the beep on this unit I push a small piece of fuel tube into the beeper inside the control panel, now it is not much louder than the beep on a typical digital wrist watch. (There is also a youtube video showing how to remove it completely if you have soldering skill & want to risk it.... I did not, I just used the fuel tube as it won't void warranty.
Pros: Good window unit so far. I like the different fan speeds, blows cold, the remote is nice and is interchangeable with the remote for our Sharp 6,000btu in another bedroom (these units are also very similar beneath their exteriors.) I think it looks nice with the controls and display where they are and the vents work fine for my room (the window\unit is close to a corner so both vents are pointed up and away from the wall.) I bought this Frigidaire to replace a (very we...
Cons: -Loud beep, I normally would not complain about something like this, but it *was really loud! If you are the type to 'set it and forget it', the beep might not be an issue. -When I was installing the top bar\rail on the unit, I dropped a screw and it fell inside. I went ahead and removed the cover to get the screw, doing this I noticed that the cover is not a very strong metal, just tightening the screws on the sides made the metal bend\twist a bit.
