Excerpt: Bought this unit to cool a very small bedroom. It is not strong enough to cool even this small bedroom. Don't waste your money on this unit. It may be good enough to cool a closet, that's about it.
Summary: The controls appear very simple, but are a little confusing as to the difference between actual temperture and set temperature. Also, it is easy to inadvertantly change it from drying to AC. But these just take a little getting used to and are not really significant negatives.
Pros: Cools the Whole Room, Easily Portable, Easy Window Installation, Energy Efficient, Even Air Distribution, Quiet
Excerpt: I purchased the unit primarly for a large room upstairs in my house to supplement the central AC system, but unit does a decent job of cooling area without using the central system. The major issues was with the window installation kit, which is poorly designed with cheap material. I created my own window kit by crafting a wooden insert using a sabre saw, rasp file, and joiner which works much better than the kit supplied with the unit.
Pros: Accurate Temperature Controls, Easily Portable, Energy Efficient, Even Air Distribution
Excerpt: Great that it was quick and easy to install…i.e., if you have access to custom sized piece of wood for window filler if necessary. The plastic window insert supplied will not fil every sized window but is easily modified with the aforementioned piece of wood.
Pros: Easy to assemble hoses, Instantly began to cool
Summary: This unit is well-built and cools very effectively. The dual hose design, while built for better efficiency, tends to make placement of the unit a little more involved, but once you've got it, you can be assured that this AC will serve you well. Controls are intuitive and the enclosed remote control allows for control across the room.
Summary: I own one unit (Danby), but this extremely hot summer prompted the purchase of a second one. This Friedrick is great. Cools quickly and performs as I would expect. It might be a little loud for a bedroom, but it is certainly only white noise and not any louder than a conventional window unit. I whole-heartedly endorse this product-- it has saved my deposition this horribly hot summer!
Pros: Cools quickly, Does the job, Easy to install
Summary: Giant and ugly--this machine will give any room the look of a hospital ward with not one but two bulging dryer hoses that must exit through the window. I chose them (and stupidly bought TWO because that's what I needed) because I thought they'd be less obtrusive than window units. Not so.
