Summary: I have had the RX-V867 in use for almost two years. I originally used it for my 5.1 surround sound/TV setup. It sounded great with a pair of little DefTech ProMonitor 800s as Fronts, and JBL wall/ceiling speakers. Hooked it up to my home LAN (wired) and it plays Pandora/Vtuner radio just fine. Note that Pandora only streams at 128Kbps to receivers even if you are a Pandora 1 member. Finds my Windows 7 DLNA PC and plays play lists, albums, etc.
Summary: I bought a yamaha RX-v867 receiver a couple of years ago and within a year the receiver started dropping HDMI signals from my Tivo and bluray player. After a couple of hours of watching any of these two sources the screen suddenly goes blank and I loose all audio and video. Sometimes unplugging the receiver and plugging it back in fixes the problem. However, this solution is not foolproof.
Summary: I bought this after heavy research 2.5 yrs ago. First of all, the sound quality is absolutely amazing. With my speakers I can get the best quality at whisper quiet or eardrum shattering loud. Movies in surround sound=amazing. Lots of extras, including ability to control with your smart phone, provided they are both on the same wifi network. I agree that the sleek design and no printed user manual make me feel like there are tons of features that I have not even utilized.
Summary: This receiver is packed with a lot of useful and quality features, which is surprising given that it is a mid-range receiver. The sound quality is really nice through my Polk Ti400-series speakers. There are also a lot of audio mix/scene pre-sets that provide a dynamic range of options for getting good sound in your viewing area.
Summary: I was looking for a new surround amp that included HDMI switching, passthrough, and upconverion, and this was the one. Although I currently don't use the networking aspects, it's nice to know I can if I decide to. In addition, I utilize outboard amplifiers for the mains, center and surround speakers, so I needed pre-outs which this amp has. The only thing missing is a phono input, but I use an outboard preamp for that.
Summary: So far, the receiver itself has been quite nice. I especially like the programmable concept, which serves to store the settings of a particular setup. I did notice that if a different audio source is selected on a single setup, that same audio source remains redirected on other audio source programs, which is not desireable. I am still searching for the correct method to interface my old technology karaoke mixer.
Very close to perfection for price range of this receiver!

Summary: Summary: Quibbles aside, as a home media centerpiece/coordinator, this box rocks... First off, this is a complex product - lots of options to tweak. But I was looking for those options, including multiple inputs, dual HDMI outputs, bi-amplification options, sound/decoding options, network options (including Internet streaming), clean powerful 7.2 sound, etc.
Summary: I have now owned this receiver for 6 months and I absolutely love it. Pros: - Great Sound, signal processing and many DSP programs - Many Inputs and many outputs (I only use HDMI and love the fact that this has 2 HDMI outs) - YPAO works great and really helped me in setting up the system - Internet Radio works awesome (plenty of channels and easy to navigate UI) - Love the UI, everything is easy to get to (can be improved thou with more help/details options) - Pre-amp...
Summary: I've had an earlier version of this receiver for about 5 years. As everything is changing over to HDMI, I decided to upgrade the receiver. I prefer to connect everything to the receiver, then have one cable to the TV. I have a ton of connections, including underground cable going to the back yard for a projector. Like with most setups of this kind, the Zone 2 output is analog. The challenge is that digital inputs can't easily be output as analog.
Summary: First of all, I love having rhapsody built in and I love the android and apple apps that control this receiver. However; after a month hdmi1 stopped working, After 3 months I no longer had a connection to rhapsody (found out firmware was available that fixed this) and now after 6 months I have no audio (zone 1 or 2). Too much time messing with this, never had any issues with onkyo.
