Summary: I needed a pre-amp. For the money this was a great deal. In the theater I have I have all large amplifiers, 1250 watts any above. My old pre-amp wouldn't do DTS-HD or AC3-HD witch is the best audio on Blu-Rays. After installing it I was knocked down by the sound it reproduced. My theater has never sounded like that...
Summary: I was sitting there listening to my TV through my surround system and thought, "If I am going to spend a few hours a day watching movies and listening to music, I should treat myself to a receiver that will give me a better sound." I read all the reviews and feedback and decided on the Yamaha RX-V775WA 7.2. I have Aperion Audio center and bookcase speakers and a 15" PSB subwoofer. I am very pleased with the new sound quality.
Summary: I bought this unit as an upgrade to an earlier Yamaha unit that only had 5.1 and no HDMI. I went through three different Yamaha units before settling on the 775. I love the 7.2 capabilities for home theater. More importantly, Yamaha always provides the pre-amp outputs necessary for audiophiles to bypass the system for audiophile equipment. The 24 bit Burr Brown DAC has been a staple in audiophile equipment for years.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality, Lots Of Output Ooptions, Pre-amp Outs For High End
Summary: I use this product in a home theater/stereo music application. It replaced a high end Sony unit I had for many years. So far it has performed up to my expectations. If you don't have an HDMI connected TV, set-up is complicated, time consuming and many of features aren't available for use. However; it provides a good migration platform. I am using my older VCR, DVD and TV, with the ability to connect newer components as needed.
Pros: Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality
Summary: This receiver is ready for now and tomorrow. Very easy to use, and loads of features I am still learning how to utilize. Set up was easy, but a paper manual would have been really nice to have.
Summary: This is my first Yamaha AV receiver and coming from an Onkyo was a little worried it would not be as good. Boy was I wrong. The set up was super easy, the sound quality is amazing and over power is out of this world. I listen to a lot of Flac files and love to listen to them loud, the clarity of this unit is superb. I have not had a chance to play with the EQ yet but will get around to that soon. Overall, I love this unit.
Pros: Decodes Flac, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Base Response, Great Sound Quality, Great Surround
Cons: Getting Used To Menus, No Hdmi Out 4 Comp Input
