Summary: I used to have a 6.1 surround sound system. (Onkyo ) but the Yamaha receiver was so good. That it motivated me to buy two more surroundsound speakers and speaker stands and their versions of converting Dolby Digital 5.1 to 7.2 is very very good and I'm very happy
Summary: im not great at writing reviews unless i am unhappy :)... anyways this product had surprised me in areas my previous denon product disappointed. great product that works good and wasnt to expensive!
Summary: I wanted to get a new receiver with the purchase of a new TV. My old receiver, a Denon AVR-3805, did not have any HDMI input/output ports and the center channel would produce a static sound from time to time. I also wanted to eliminate some of the cable mess behind my entertainment stand with all the bulky component cables/optical cables for just a single HDMI cable. Your not going to see any difference in quality going from component to HDMI, same with audio.
Summary: Easy To Set Up & Manage Settings! I Bought An Onkyo TX-NR616 7.2 Two Months Before This One & Had Nothing But Trouble With It! So Don't Make The Same Mistake I Did! Buy This One First & Save Yourself From Having Two Receivers!
Summary: Finally I can hear the voices in the movies I replaced my 2003 era Pioneer receiver with this Yamaha specifically because it advertised that it made the voices stand out in movies. This was our number one complaint with the old Pioneer -we could not understand the voices in movies on way too many occasions. And it wasn't for lack of trying every sound mode they had. Well the Yamaha has come through in flying colors.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality
I upgraded from an older Yamaha receiver I've had for 10 years...

Summary: and this doesn't disappoint. I kept my old speaker system in place and just swapped out the receiver. The HDMI component connections are great for all the components that make up my visual media set up (HD Cable, Chromecast, BDVD, etc.). I do have one complaint though but it's a fairly small one.
Summary: Once I located the web setup feature I was able to change the name of the inputs and assign audio to video inputs. These were the two complaints i had with the equipment. There was no documentation about this even being an option with this equipment. Had to search through lots of web forums to find it.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Energy Efficient, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality
