Summary: Worst of all is the small lettering on the remote. I have 20/20 vision, but the remote is impossible to read in low light. You just have to memorize the location of the buttons that you want to use. The front panel instructions are not intuitive, you have to go to the Yamaha website to figure out how to make most programming selections. The sound is good, but not exceptional. There are many sound options that are not useful.
Summary: I will say that I have Yamaha instruments and this is only my second AV Reciever from them. With my previous Reciever I was always happy because it just did its job. Unfortunately with this experience I think they have managed to really turn me off - their support stinks and I now questioning their engineering! I got the RX-V673 as a gift and for the 20 minutes that this reciever actually worked, I was pretty happy with the sound and features.
Summary: I bought this thinking that I was going to finally have the ultimate home theater system. When I got home I was incredibly excited to set it up with my two new speakers. Upon setting it up, I realized, and I could be wrong, that there was no EQ settings. By the time I had figured this out though, I didn't even care because I was so unimpressed with all of the other "features" from this receiver that I was already ready to bring it back to the store.
great product (when it works); awful customer service

Summary: i bought this unit to run two zones independently at my house, each with its own content and volume control. it worked perfectly. there was a little fine tuning that i was able to accomplish with yamaha's knowledgeable customer support (which is 24/7) after a long wait. i am not an audiophile and i am not running a hometheater system, so i cannot comment on the quali of sound or picture. however, the feature set is great.
People never like reading bad reviews... I don't like writing one.. but.....

Summary: When this 673 came out I read the reviews which were all outstanding. I didn't have time to look at it first and just ordered one by mail - a no-brainer, I thought. It was a dumb mistake. Had I just looked at the back of the unit and seen that the posts for the speaker wire can't take anything much bigger than bell cable alarm bells would have sounded. And that one pair of speakers use the old press, push, and release method that would have been another clue.
