Summary: I had to replace me beloved Denon AVR 588 and wanted to add hdmi processing and network capability. Wifi nor bluetooth were needed, so after exhaustive research I decided on the Yamaha RX-V673. I had Yamaha before I went to Denon and I am so happy I came back. Setup could not have been simpler.
Summary: First off, I've never written a review of any product on Amazon before but I decided to share my experience because I couldn't be happier with this receiver. I did a lot of research on receivers before I finally made my purchase and I made a wise choice.
Summary: I purchased my whole set up from newegg. Front: Polk Audio New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker Pair Center: Polk Audio New Monitor 25C Two-Way Center Channel Loudspeaker Sub: Klipsch Synergy Sub-10 420W 10" Subwoofer Black Back: Polk Audio RC85i High Performance In-Wall Speaker...
Pros: Works right out of the box. Just hook everything up and set up the mic and hit start. You have to play with the sets a bit to get it just the way you like it.(See cons:) Networking, airplay, app, sound, video are all amazing!! Overall I'm completely happy with my purchase.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like is the lack of control for the bass. The mic works great for setting up. But, I had to turn the bass down a bit. You have to buy a good center channel or the bass and surround drowns everything else out. Just keep that in mind if you go with this receiver. After playi...
Summary: This replaced a very nice Denon 5.1 Dolby surround system. Pro Logic sounded okay, but with this Yamaha it sounds like I'm sitting in a recording studio or a digital movie theater. Incredibly awesome!!!
Pros: Incredible Sound! Amazing effects! Great sound translators! Deep, rich Bass and crystal clear Treble.
Summary: I love this receiver. Very easy to set up with the exception of one thing. When i used the ypao mike, my front speakers were large enough that the created enough base and the receiver turned off my sub.
Summary: Other highlights: You can turn on/login to the receiver from your computer, select songs from a variety of options (folder, artist, genre, etc). The phone app (on Android at least) works well, although I stick to the computer.
Pros: I bought this to upgrade my over a decade old Onkyo receiver. The primary reason for the update was HDMI, which didn't exist when the Onkyo came out. I have to say that I am extremely happy with my purchase. I was hesitant to purchase a 2012 receiver as the networking/DLNA functions are fairly ne...
Cons: The only complaint I have is I cannot seem to get movies to stream over DLNA. The DLNA server shows the files, even the receiver shows them, but they're darkened for some reason. I've tried everything from avi, mpg, mkv, etc, none work. I end up streaming the movies to my PS3, which runs to the r...
Helpful advice for those interested in the RX-V673

Summary: While others have delivered much praise for the Yamaha RX-V673 receiver, I wanted to build on their collective comments with my own findings. The intent is to share my experience with the hope it may help others make a decision on whether the RX-V673 is right for them.
