Summary: The HDMI out to TV never worked right. After owning the receiver for one year, the Hdmi board failed completely. I had to take unit 100 miles away to the only uthoriized service in South Florida. After 10 days, I picked up the system and it was in the same condition. Yamaha has no tech support phone number, the response to emails is weeks of waiting and I still haven't resolved the issue. The unit's features are fine while they work.
Summary: I have owned several Yamaha products and bought this product new. At first I was happy with the unit but noticed that the color was off. Not being a picky audiophile here... the startup screen for my dvd player is blue and it would show up purple so I would need to reset the unit until it was corrected. Even then the color just seemed off. After 2 months the unit just stopped working.
Summary: This is a very impressive "looking" unit. My question is why is Yamaha still selling this piece of junk?? The unit shuts off when the volume is increased or if the speaker optimizer is used. I have followed the manual, I have followed the online troubleshooting guide and have spoken to Yamaha "Live" techs. The seller had recently replaced my unit (possible lemon) and the replacement unit also shuts off.
Summary: I bought this when I got my first BluRay because my Denon had run out of HDMI in ports. Now after many dollars spent on cables, dvd players, and bluray players I am ready to pitch it off a bridge. Absolutely every thing I put in any of the hdmi in ports gives me an "invalid signal" error on my TVs both LG 42in 1080. The only thing I can use it for is audio using the (thank god Yamaha still puts them in for the time being) two digital audio inputs.
Summary: Just wanted to let everyone know, that although this is a new model receiver Yamaha left out assignable audio and video inputs. I just got off the phone with Yamaha pre sale support and they confirmed this on the models 465, 565, 665, 765, no assignable inputs. We get a receiver that finally has 4 HDMI inputs and HDMI pass through, but no asignable inputs. In other words you are stuck with the arrangement on the back panel.
