Great sound and quality.

  • Summary: I'm a pretty big fan of Yamaha receivers. They are focused on sound quality, quality, and simplicity. The look is a tad boring, but my Yamahas are all still in service. Haven't had the same experience with Pioneer brand receivers. I love other products from Pioneer, but had a lot of bad luck with sound quality and service life of their receivers.

  • Summary: Great sound, good power, easy to connect, remote is easy to use also, I love it. I'm not a sound master like most people on here apparently, so I cant tell you technical things, but I will say I'm very picky about my sound and speakers, bass/treble, etc. but Finally after over a decade and 3 different set ups, I have my "home theater" sound like a theater. I can't even turn the sound up all the way, I get about 75% and it's super loud, crisp, and clear!

  • Summary: I purchased this for my parents to serve as the hub for their television mix of components. I chose this Yamaha model because I have owned this same model for a year as well as two other Yamaha receivers which are on the high end spectrum retailing 5 times the price of this one. All my Yamaha products have been reliable, are heavy, and sound great. I also own 2 Sony STR-DH740 models similar to this Yamaha model.

  • Summary: I have a Yamaha AV receiver that's about 4 years old and liked it (one model down from this one) and had the need for another so I purchased this one. I love it. Yamaha makes a really good product. No hiss/hum during quiet portions of music or movie tracks. Great surround sound options with this one and plenty of power to drive a large speaker system.

  • Summary: I've held off reviewing this item for awhile in order to make sure it functioned properly. At first I thought it was causing some issues with my entertainment setup(I'll spare the details, it's an odd/complicated setup) but it wasn't. Being my first receiver, it took me quite some time to get used to all the settings, but I got it down eventually.
