Summary: I bought this to replace an older (but not THAT old) Onkyo whose HDMI board had died (apparently common for the newer Onkyo receivers). I got a great price on a refurbished unit. This unit exhibits typical Yamaha quality and features and I really like it. It is the heart of my fairly elaborate home entertainment system and I really like being able to plug in a 32GIG USB drive and play music.
Summary: I received the last refurbished one that was available. I now know why. It works fine, however, the cabinet is all scratched and the information window is clouded so bad in some places that it is very hard to read. I'm planning on returning it and asking for a refund.
Summary: Overall very happy with the purchase. If I were to do it again, I would have upgraded to the one with two true zones instead of shared. I installed speakers out on the patio and in the living room, so it's nice being able to turn one zone on and the other off or vice versa, but you're forced to use the same input and it's difficult to put them on separate volumes.

Summary: Wouldn't buy a product from Yamaha again. Bought this receiver and It's not working after 40 days. Took it to repair center and they told me that I have to wait for parts up to 8 weeks. They have warranty it for 1 year but let customer wait for almost 2 month. What a customer service. Never buy anything from Yamaha again.

Summary: I purchased this for my parents to serve as the hub for their television mix of components. I chose this Yamaha model because I have owned this same model for a year as well as two other Yamaha receivers which are on the high end spectrum retailing 5 times the price of this one. All my Yamaha products have been reliable, are heavy, and sound great. I also own 2 Sony STR-DH740 models similar to this Yamaha model.
Summary: 20 yr old yamaha reciever althought stilll going stong not really compatable wiyh new hd tv. and my very strong perferance for all yamaha products( ive own motorcycle, outboard engine, musical instruments and electronics) i decieded to try this refurb. price to my door with 2 day $327.pracage had big rip.but everything was fine in fact looked brand new. hook up a little bit of hassel instuctions vague on routing of hdmi cables.hooked up seven old speakers bose sony scott.
Summary: We could not get the Zone B speakers to operate separately from the main surround sound set of speakers. The customer service # is a joke, 45 minutes on hold and then we just gave up. They won't publish a working email address to contact customer service. Very frustrating company to try to deal with. There is no Owner's Manual just a CD you must down load when ever you have a question.
