Summary: i love my receiver it upconvert to 1080p from any source and the sound quality is awsome, ipod integration is a nice touch from yamaha, thanks for that, my buying experience with amazon is perfect.
Summary: My old Sony receiver was giving me fits and my needs had outgrown its capacity (in particular, it only had 2 HDMI inputs and I have 4 devices that I connected through an HDMI switch). This Yamaha unit has dropped in price due to the new models that have come out. Set up on this unit was a snap!
Summary: After a horrible experience with a Denon AVR-1312 that I had to return, I am very pleased with this purchase. Following HDMI compatibility issues with the Denon, I was a bit concerned about the Yamaha.
Summary: This replaced a Onkyo TX SR604 that barely lasted 4 years before - one-by-one - the channels for it's various inputs burned out. I've bought Onkyo receivers for years and - until now - loved them. I've never seen heat issues like the last couple. It was time for a change.
Summary: It has been 20+ years since I updated by sound/home theater system, so my review won't be helpful as comparisons go. The Sony I replaced had nothing new-tech about it, no HDMI capabilities, etc. This might as well be my first receiver. Actually it is my first Yamaha Receiver.
Summary: I am just a dad who decided to upgrade the family entertainment set-up by purchasing an LG 65LW6500 3-D TV (a barrel of fun I might add), a Sony S770 Blu-ray player, and this Yamaha A/V receiver.
Summary: Incredible versatile for multiple uses, situations. Have placed it in large 22' X 28' room for surround sound with mini home theater, added extra multiple speakers with switch to supplement sound to kitchen area when desired. Quality is superb. Can highly recommend.
