Summary: This receiver is a good choice for those who are starting a new system or even upgrading an older Yamaha receiver like me. It has good sound, a little too much trebble initially (before tweaks and break in) but once you hook up a sub to it...look out.

Summary: Exactly as others describe, probably the best Receiver in this price range. 4 Stars only because when you try and route hdmi through the Receiver then the TV, it has caused picture problems (from a mac) and sound problems (xbox-no center output). I would buy again.
Summary: I am a big fan of Yamaha receivers. This one handles HDMI switching perfectly. The sound quality is excellent. Calibration was quick and easy. I really enjoy the on screen display and iPod integration.
Summary: This has everything you need for a an awesome sound and Home Theater System! Very impressed by all the HDMI ports and Digital optical sound port. Front plug in for I pod or USB dock and many pre set sound settings.
Summary: I have always liked Yamaha products and this does not disappoint. My friend has the 5.1 receiver and found it worked great, I opted for the 7.1 channel receiver. The options on this machine is just right for me and is not very difficult to figure out.
Summary: Like many, I am NOT a true "Audiophile." I know enough to set-up my HT System (keeping all wires labeled and neat, etc.) and playing with the Digital Sound Fields, etc... I know what sounds good to me...
