Summary: I didn't test this function out when I first got the unit. When I found out, it was too late to return the unit. I called the Yamaha support center, waited for half an hour and the representative was rude and not helpful at all. I have to take this receiver to a local service center for repair.
Pros: No complain about the sound reproduction in this unit. It integrated perfectly with my Bose speakers. The sound is superb. I would give it a 5 eggs if there is no HDMI problem.
Cons: The problem I have is while playing DVD and Blue-ray through the Yamaha receiver, the movie picture is blinking. The duration varies from a brief blink to a black out screen up to 3 seconds. I hooked up the DVD and Blue-ray player directly to the TV and there is no problem.
Fantastic receiver, great features at a pretty good price.

Summary: I replaced an older Yamaha receiver with this one.... I wanted the HDMI inputs for my TV. The USB port in front is a huge plus. I love that it can read all the music on my iPhone and iPod, and that I can control it from the Yamaha remote. I haven't tried the AirPlay feature yet.
Summary: I got this to replace my Onkyo HT-RC360 7.2-Channel which was only 3 1/2 yr old. My Sony is still working after 15 yr. I am hoping this Yamaha will last alot longer than the Onkyo. This Yamaha has excellent sound and was very easy to set up. It does not get hot like the Onkyo. The remote works easy.

Summary: I use this receiver for home theater and music. It is the hub of all my components, as all connect to the RX-V477. It seamlessly swithes between 5.1 surround and stereo. Music is clear with fantastic separation that enhances any genre.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality, Versatile For Music Video, Ypao Balances Surround
Summary: Really fantastic receiver, especially for the price. Number of HDMI inputs made pairing with Blu-Ray player, satellite box, television, and gaming console seamless. System puts out enough volume for my small apartment.

Summary: This product was exactly what I was looking for. I have a smaller room, and only needed power to feel like I was at the theater. I didn't have the need for 7.1 or 7.2 surround sound. i think this is a perfect fit for a nice 5.1 system. one thing that I'm not thrilled about is the volume display.
Summary: I bought this product as a replacement to my VSX-60 receiver (broke down just after 2 years) in my media room. The controls are great, simple and straight forward. Set up was easy and seamless. The sound quality is respectable but not exceptional.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Good Remote Control
