and only needed power to feel like I was at the theater

Adam Fortin, Amazon

  • Summary: This product was exactly what I was looking for. I have a smaller room, and only needed power to feel like I was at the theater. I didn't have the need for 7.1 or 7.2 surround sound. i think this is a perfect fit for a nice 5.1 system. one thing that I'm not thrilled about is the volume display.

This receiver could be better

Wolf, Yamaha

  • Summary: I bought this product as a replacement to my VSX-60 receiver (broke down just after 2 years) in my media room. The controls are great, simple and straight forward. Set up was easy and seamless. The sound quality is respectable but not exceptional.
  • Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Good Remote Control
  • Cons: Lack Of Power

Great sound at a good price.

  • Summary: Great sound at a good price. Very easy to set up and I don't know why others have had problems - I didn't read the manuals and found everything except the alternate audio input to be very intuitive. I haven't used the WiFi connection yet.

  • Summary: Yamaha RXV477 is value for money, the sound is great, 5.1, the upscale for 4K video really works, and the enhancer for MP3 music or any source music, does the difference. I am very please with Yamaha, beside that if you connect to your home network you will have the possibility to fully control your...

Very Happy with this Receiver

Danny, Yamaha
  • Summary: We bought this to replace our 11+ year old tuner which didn't have all of the latest and greatest options, (i.e. no HDMI). It was very easy to hook up to our Smart TV along with all of our other components and there was a significant sound quality improvement in our existing speakers.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Great Sound Quality

  • Summary: debated for ages whether or not to replace a Yamaha 5440 I've had for 12 years, that still works fine but doesn't have HDMI (I've been using the TV as a switching 'hub'). Also I wanted to try out the YPAO feature on the new model.

  • Summary: This is my 3rd Av receiver. By far the best for movies and music. I would recommend this especially for music and u can manually set the equalizer to your preferences. With the right speakers it has plenty of power and awesome CLEAN sound .

Unit works great and love the internet radio

NC Cabinets, Amazon

  • Summary: Unit works great and love the internet radio. The only problem is I am getting a choppiness in the audio when I use Optical Digital audio. We get Netflix on our Samsung TV and run the Optical cable back to the receiver. TV doesn't have an HDMI output. I am on my second defective unit.

  • Summary: Made for an Iphone. The airplay is great but I wish it played video as well as audio (my only complaint). I use it with Paradigm 70CT 5.1 surround sound speakers and the sound is fantastic, it's LOUD at 0 db of attenuation.

So Far So Good

Tom, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I originally ordered a Yamaha Receiver because my last two Onkyo's died soon after the warrenty expired. To my surprise the Yamaha was DOE, no sound, and did not like the layout of inputs on the rear of the receiver. I went back to Onkyo hoping that I get lucky with the V477BL.
  • Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
  • Cons: Runs Hot
