Good Medium-Level AV Receiver

Greg M., Amazon
1 March 2016
  • Summary: This has proved to be a fine controller for my living room electronics. I bought this older unit in good condition because it saved me a lot of money. I presumed that no matter which input source was chosen, the output would be HDMI, but that's not true.

Solid Device

Robert C., Newegg
17 May 2013
  • Summary: Great for the price of $200!
  • Pros: Has various surround settings depending on what I listen to (when I use the music setting, it sounds phenomenal). Have 4 HDMI inputs, allowing me to easily switch from my PC to my cable box to my Wii to my USB without touching my TV's input settings. Great on-screen display for settings. The devi...
  • Cons: Can't have multiple YPAO profiles. Took me awhile to get it to work with my video card's HDMI, but I did eventually.

Dead soon after 30 days expired

Mark J., Newegg
4 May 2013
  • Summary: I bought this after reading decent reviews in consumer reports. I won't make that mistake again, with electronics products. I wouldn't recommend Yamaha electronics to anyone.
  • Pros: basic receiver, cheap
  • Cons: About 40 days after I bought this, it died completely. I contacted Yamaha support, and they took it for service. It has not been fixed after 4 weeks; supposedly they are waiting for a part. Be aware that even if this system functioned properly, it has several drawbacks: * "USB" support means it c...

Yamaha RX-V471BL

Jason Huff, Amazon
22 April 2013
  • Summary: Had this unit for less then 6 mos. and it quit working, nothing, no power what so ever, completely dead. Now have to go through the rigorous process of packing it back up and sending it back on my dollar. Also believe I will only get credit for a portion of the full purchase price, bummer.

Works

Logan G., Newegg
4 April 2013
  • Summary: This receiver works, all features work as advertized and there are no issues. This replaced a cheapo RCA receiver so there isn't much surprise in the fact that it sounds better.
  • Pros: Works as advertized
  • Cons: didn't make me breakfast

Awesome System!

enriebee, Amazon
22 February 2013
  • Summary: I bought the system based on reviews here at Amazon and as a previous owner back then. It is an upgrade to my home entertainment center in my game room and the sounds produced is just unbelievable. For the price, sound(s) and ease of operation it can't be beat. Highly recommended!

A Lot of Bang for a Little Buck!

Keith A., Newegg
9 February 2013
  • Summary: If your on a budget or you have a room that only needs 5.1 you need this receiver.
  • Pros: The ease to set up is amazing. This receiver has so many options and will save you so much time and headaches with the YPAO speaker setup. It pushes my Polk speaker setup with ease. Why spend so much more money when this receiver can do most of what the big boys can do.
  • Cons: I miss the days of a printed manual. The manual is on CD which really isn't a con I guess.
