Summary: The system isn't bad. but it's not great. If you just want some sound, then sure. But the sub leaves a lot to be desired and I've definitely heard better surround quality. Since I live in an apartment, I'm living with the sub-par quality but in a few months, when we move out, we'll be upgrading to something more impressive.
Summary: Yamaha is one of the best out there for sound systems/home theaters. This set has the right balance of Bass and treble response from the speakers. Setup was easy to do and maintenance free operations. I would recomment people with $250-300 budgets to shell out $100-$150 bucks for the quality and peace of mind.
Summary: Opened the item NIB, set it up according to instructions, attempted to power it on according to instructions and heard two clicks (a relay no doubt). Tried again, two clicks. Third time, no clicks, nothing at all. No further signs of life were given by this piece of junk. Boxing it up and returning it. Definitely disappointed.
Summary: Very good performance for the price - have only used in 2 channel stereo mode, so it has a lot more features and capability than I really need, but it puts out pretty good sound quality, especially considering the reasonable price.
Summary: This is my second Yamaha Receiver, and I do like the way they sound. Although boxing for shipment was very good, the receiver smelled strongly of tobacco smoke, which was very disappointing. The smell has faded, but I am still sore about it. Beware, may be something we can do about this problem. I do not need internet on my receiver.
