Summary: Great receiver for the money. Wanted a stereo gift for my 13 yr. old son. His Aunt and Grandparents agreed to pitch in and I bought some refurbished Advent Baby IIs off eBay as well for my part. Why a AV receiver? Good room to grow with subwoofer line out, USB port for flash drive music and his iPod and I have the big brother RX V 1020 and have had a great experience so far. Later if he wants a surround system he's set.
Summary: Replaced an aging receiver with this one. It was easy to set up with my Bose Acoustimass 10 speaker system. The surround really shines compared to my old system. Plenty of HDMI inputs for all of my devices and gaming consoles. Additionally, it is much nicer not to have to push buttons to have the receiver properly recognize the correct audio stream - it just works. Great buy. I'm very pleased.
Summary: I.'ve had it for over a month now. For the price I paid I am enjoying sounds that compare to AMPS priced at a few hundred more. Surprisingly I am tuning to AMs and FMs even without the antennae installed. There's a later model for $50 more. No difference. Just more money for a newer product.
Summary: It's a great receiver at a good price but I should've done more research before buying it. First, it doesn't have pass-through for your TV so you cannot use the TV if the receiver isn't on. Second, you can't set up and A/B system for your speakers. I have outdoor speakers that I don't want on while watching TV but you can't deselect them. I had to treat them as the Surround Sound speakers and the indoor speakers as the front to jury rig a solution.
An affordable receiver with high end features without a high end price!

Summary: I purchased this receiver mainly because I was updating my old, dated Sony receiver from 10 years ago. This is my first HDMI receiver and I couldn't be happier. Being able to run video and audio on the same cable on the same input is very convenient. I have owned a lot of receivers in my life and this is by far the best. Without getting into too many technical aspects, this receiver really does give you a lot of bang for your buck.
