Summary: I would be lost without the user guide. This receiver is packed with features. It could use more HDMI inputs, but for now it has what I need. The sound is what you would expect from Yamaha, clear and defined. Watching movies at home will never be the same. Also, I like my home stereo to be very heavy, for two reasons. The first reason is, heavy usually means solid construction with massive power. The second reason is, it's harder to steal.
Summary: I have had this receiver for 5 years now and it has worked perfectly. This receiver is a true hi fidelity monster! The weight of this receiver is almost 2x more than any other receiver i've ever owned. It's also physically larger too, due to the Class A amplifiers. Unfortunately i need to downsize and have listed the unit for sale. Before i did though, i took it in to be cleaned and have a once over. The technician was all smiles when i picked up the unit.
Summary: I purchased my first Yamaha "stereo" receiver in 1977 . At that time it was the coolest thing I had purchased along with the Phillips 870 turntable to spin the albums. Since I have owned several Yamaha receivers. All have been high end. I purchased this receiver to replace my aging basement unit DSP-3090.Nothing functionally wrong with the 3090, just wanted to upgrade to new technology.
After seven years, finally retired - not enough HDMI inputs

Summary: In it's day this was a very advanced high end receiver. It was the second wave of HDMI switchers, at an affordable price point - not $3,000. Today, these sale prices make this receiver an amazing deal. February 22, 2013 Update: Wow I can't believe I've had this receiver 7 years. It is still used every single day. It still works great. The turntable has been moved to a dedicated system (2 channel only) in another room.
Summary: This receceiver sounds great and has plenty of power to push my klipsch speakers. The auto sound set up is easy and qwik. It has more features than you could ask for. It also looks great in my entertainment center. I replaced my Sony receiver with this one and I can tell a big differance in sound quality. I am won over by Yamaha sound quality and will purchase another one in the future. If you are considering a Yamaha receiver I would recomend the RX series to anyone.
Summary: in the sub 1k selection there are many contenders, but only a small handful of players. This offering from yamaha is the best "bang for the buck" ... the pioneer elite series is nice and I personally like the Dennon stuff, but they're spotty with reliability and to my ears the Yamaha wooped the Pioneer when it came to audio, ... I am one of those underprivileged people that has to utilize his Receiver for both film and music..
Summary: I bought this about a year ago and it is just the best. the sound is incredible. The YPAO automatic acoustic equalizer is an awesome feature that automatically adjusts your speakers and puts them in sync. the video quality is great and the RX-V2600 has plenty of inputs for all of your electronic equipment. This is by far the best receiver i have encountered so far.
Summary: I recently bought this unit. I am completely pleased. The upscaling is perfect, not a hint of distortion. The sound is incredible. I've long felt that receivers either were meant for movies, or music, not both. This one does both incredibly well. It's 7 channel stereo is incredible. The DSP settings for movies are also very nice, not at all gimmicky like some other receivers.

Summary: I have always been a big fan of Yamaha and never have been disappointed. When I was looking at purchasing a new receiver I looked at a few brands. I was mostly interested in the video side of things but wanted great audio as well. The HD conversion works as stated, now everything is in 1020 on my Mitsu DLP 52" screen. I used a HDMI cable from my receiver to my TV and had no problems.
Summary: I have thoroughly enjoyed this purchase. After reading all the reviews, the only models highly rated in this price range were this Yamaha and the Denon. I picked this model because of the far better on screen display and the video upconversion. The sound is about the same. Since getting it I have had no problems.
