Yamaha RX-V2065 Review

Digitaltrends
4 November 2009
  • Excerpt: With the RX-V2065, Yamaha giveth, and Yamaha taketh away: This moderately high-end A/V receiver delivers innovation and a long list of features that would make any home-theater enthusiast drool. Yet there are some head-scratching omissions from an otherwise solid feature set that left us puzzled.
  • Pros: 130 watts into seven channels, Very good graphical user interface, HD Radio tuner, Ethernet connectivity (DLNA certified), Two HDMI outputs, Digital audio output (optical only), Front-panel HDMI and USB inputs, Two remote controls, iPhone app
  • Cons: No video signal processor, Non-assignable digital audio inputs, Can’t pair HDMI video with multi-channel analog inputs

  • Excerpt: Yamaha’s RX-V1900 has now been superceded by a new AV receiver. In some respects, it marks a significant change of direction. Perhaps that’s why the model number is so different from what has gone before — the RX-V2065. In many respects, however, this is a direct repeat. The audio specifications have hardly changed. This model also offers seven channels, each rated at 130W across the full audio bandwidth into eight ohms.

Yamaha RX-V2065

What Hi-Fi?
24 March 2010
  • Excerpt: Unbox the RX-V2065 and you may wonder where all your cash has been spent. As far as looks are concerned, there isn't much to differentiate this home cinema amp from Yamaha's budget models costing half as much. Yet, take a look at the comprehensive list of features and you'll see clearly how this machine distances itself from Yamaha's cheaper models.
  • Pros: Great features, superb steering of surround effects, sounds weighty and authoritative
  • Cons: Entry-level looks, slight edge to high frequencies, doesn’t sound as detailed as key rivals

  • Excerpt: There comes a time in the development life cycle of electronic equipment where things get a bit, well, Terminator. Your electronics get ideas of their own and start ordering you about. For instance, Yamaha's RX -V2065 receiver suggested, in no uncertain terms, that I leave the room while it sets itself up. Yikes.
