Price was right and it sounds so good you can taste it.

Summary: I was writing the review then, my computer belched or something because, I lost all of it. Anyway, this receiver is excellent. Cleaner sound than the Pioneer I had before, onscreen graphics showing (I think) all the functions you can adjust. It has inputs for a turntable (so you don't have to use a preamp. And?? I could go on and on about this beauty but, it can be summed up by saying this receiver is a masterpiece.
Great value as 2 channel stereo, great home theater with int. remote

Summary: I have now purchased 3 different Yamaha RX-V1500 receivers over the last 2 months used on eBay. These receivers have a wonderful warm sound - I love listening to music through them. While I don't actually use them for home theater - I use them for 2 channel stereo - the reason is that the price performance is amazing for a 2 channel amp if you ignore the home theater additions. The price is typically $120-140 for what was a $900 amp when new.
Summary: I bought it to replace one that was struck by lightning. The sound is as good or better than at the theater. I use it for multiple inputs to my home theater. These inputs include a blue ray player, XBox, two DVD players, and two Directv dishes. For each input it will select the proper processing for the sound or I can choose between everything from standard stereo to Dolby 7.1.
Yamaha RX V1500 - excellent bargain in "high end" AVR
26 January 2009
Summary: I am not a educated audiofile, only guy that loves great sound with a minimum THD. This AVR receiver has so much power, fidelity, modes and speaker connections to satisfy almost everyone. For even the most demanding it will remain like a $1500.00 Nikon. It will always be better than you. By that, I mean you will be learning for long time to appreciate its features and quality. Surely there is a lot of more expensive and better AVR receivers.
