Summary: This is one of the best receiver I've had the pleasure of owning besides my vintage yamaha amp. If you want quality, 7.1 THX certified, and auto calibration for a killer price, this is the one to get. The sound is amazing with the auto calibration feature. You will need true audiophile speakers to make the most of this detailed receiver. Looked at the Pioneer elite systems and even listened to a few. After playing with the Yamaha my decision was made.
Summary: well let me tell you that this is good reciver that yamaha had put togather it's one of a kind and thew fact that it was THx certified was is a very good thing, this reciver can decode all the latest dsp, sound fields and, the fact that now yamaha has went away from the thx certifaction in it's mid pirce recivers is a shame, also if you can get one of these do get, it becuse the new ones are not as good quailty as this one in the mid price range
Summary: This receiver looks great and sounds very clean. DSP modes are actually something you can use. The auto-setup works very well and is easy to use. Manual setup is also an option and can be used to tweak your configuration after running auto-setup. Lots of inputs and outputs for both analog and digital sources. Get banana plugs for connecting speaker wires, otherwise it will be crowded hooking things up.
