Summary: A good 5.1 system. Invest in good speakers/sub.. Size is perfect for small enclosures. Major disappointment is that you can't wireless stream video. Remote is too small. YPAO set up is ok but had to tweak my settings for what I prefer. Works well in my small den. Sounds is very good.
Pros: Great Sound Quality, Size
Cons: Confusing / Bad Remote Control, Too Many Dsp Fields
Great features in a short chassis and AirPlay works like it should

Summary: We purchased Yamaha RX-S600 because it had all the features we needed and it was one of the few short enough to fit in our TV stand, we have been using it for 2 days at this point. So far I am very impressed with the sound and feature set for such a small receiver.
Summary: I have only owned a couple of AV receivers, but that is generally because I think long and hard about the devices I bring into my home. When I thought it might be time for an upgrade, I was pliantly surprised by the Yamaha RX-S600.
Summary: Fits my tight space perfectly. Airplay works and I actually use it quite a bit. Took a chance on 1 that was returned to warehouse to save $$ and I can't find anything wrong with it. It just works.
Summary: I have owned this receiver and had it fully integrated into my system for a few days now. So far I am very impressed with the sound and feature set for such a small receiver. Our usage is primarily AirPlay (which works much better on this device than others I have tried in the past and connects...
Pros: Short so it easily fits into a TV stand or stereo rack 5 HDMI inputs (1 of which is MHL capable, for smart devices) and 1 ARC (audio return channel for TV audio to come in on with capable TVs) output 1 component audio output AirPlay, Pandora, streaming file access from your computer, USB file pla...
Cons: The MHL capable HDMI port is on the rear rather than the front panel for easy access The component audio out port will not output AirPlay audio
Summary: I only took delivery of this unit a few days ago so still evaluating but based on initial use and impressions I'd give 4.5 stars. It has relatively clean power, a small footprint (which was very important to me for this particular application), with decent features.
Pros: 1) bang for the buck in a small footprint unit 2) good compromise - slim profile with decently clean power and features 3) very easy setup 4) Crutchfield service 5) build quality on par with what one expects from Yamaha
Cons: 1) no true secondary speaker selection 2) no built in wifi solution 3) weak smart app
Great, Not Awe Inspiring - But They Did Put Everything In A Nice Compact Package

Summary: Setting up the amp is very easy. Connect the included microphone to the mic input on the front panel and automatic set-up begins. After pressing `yes' a couple of times, you'll get about 30 seconds of test tones, which the amp uses to calculate the sizes, distance and volume of your speakers.
