Summary: Watch out. Though this unit is probably perfect in every way, its internal BurrBrown DACs are crippled by the fact that you cannot use an external HiFi amp and are forced to use its own rather weak amplifier. Now this may be a complete deal breaker for many that are actually looking for a compact high quality AV receiver and have dedicated external amps to power the speakers...even simple 2 channel.

Summary: This thing ROCKS! We had a 20K Control4 system in our past house, and it didn't work as well as this thing does. We have it hooked up just to a living room TV system, and speakers. It connects to the wifi and lets you connect to any internet radio station or airplay from any mac device super easily, including Spotify integration. It's so awesome, and easy to use. Has great fidelity with the image too, connected to our Samsung 4k TV. AND this thing has a low profile.
Summary: I love it! Mainly got it because of the size and airplay feature. Hooked up to a JBL Studio 200 5.0 system. Worth every penny. The iPhone remote is great and I use a mac mini server to play my entire iTunes library via airplay and apples remote app. It's absolutely fabulous. Os upgrade is a breeze, so is initial setup. I highly recommend it.
Great features in a short chassis and AirPlay works like it should

Summary: We purchased Yamaha RX-S600 because it had all the features we needed and it was one of the few short enough to fit in our TV stand, we have been using it for 2 days at this point. So far I am very impressed with the sound and feature set for such a small receiver. Our usage is primarily AirPlay (which works much better on this device than others I have tried in the past and connects within a few seconds), we use this in conjunction with other AirPlay and hard wired...
Summary: This equipment delivers on its promise. Sound is clear, power is more than enough (I can't ever raise it completely), and works exactly as described. Only problem was with the network remote control via iphone that never worked correctly, however, it's not a big issue for me.
Summary: I had read the reviews and some complain of lack of power, I am not having that problem at all and why, for one thing I stop using the mic set up where it always drops the rear channels to 2 or 3 and in some cases I,ve seen negative 3. It would put main and center speakers also at low numbers I put in my own numbers my rear I always max out so even when things are at low action scenes I still can hear activity surrounding me.

Summary: This receiver is replacing an entry level Onkyo AVR in my main room. The room leaves a bit to be desired lighting and acoustics wise, so I have another room for serious home theater. But I find I can upgrade the lower end equipment more regularly, so my main room has much more modern tech which allows me to figure out when new tech has matured enough to upgrade the home theater room.
Summary: I have only owned a couple of AV receivers, but that is generally because I think long and hard about the devices I bring into my home. When I thought it might be time for an upgrade, I was pliantly surprised by the Yamaha RX-S600. The primary thing you will notice about this receiver is that it is thin; it’s not especially light, but it is easy to maneuver into the tight space of the average av cabinet.
