Summary: this is my first Yamaha receiver and I bought this one strictly because it was on sale for 50% off the day I was needing it and I decided that I'd go with this one due to its more channels and dual cdmi and for the discounted price offered I was able to buy this and some ok speakers for a couple dollars cheaper than a 5.1 yamaha system.
Summary: Best receiver, high quality sound, take your time and read the users manual, hdmi control the best, easy to use, I can control my laptop & PS3 player without programing the Yamaha remote, very happy!
Upgraded from Yamaha RX-V775A during return process.

Summary: Ordered a Yamaha RX-V775A originally but, somebody drove a forklift through the box (Obvious external damage) and then decided to ship it to me. The right side had a massive bashed in forklift scar. Return process was flawless as usual, but QC needs to be improved. Never should have gotten to my door in that fashion. Decided to upgrade a notch and I am very satisfied with the choice. Awesome sounding receiver as I expect from Yamaha.
Summary: This RX-A830 hums like the old TVs did in the 1950s and 60s. I'm also having a problem with the HDMI 1 output. The service tech I talked to said it was probably a transformer in the unit, so I will take it in for servicing in 2 weeks. I don't know if shipping had anything to do with the problem, but it should have been double boxed with bubble wrap or peanuts in between.
Summary: Sound is very, very good. I had some back speakers I was looking at replacing because of the sound quality (or lack thereof). This receiver made me change my mind. I also like the Pandora integration though typing in the username/password is a pain. HOWEVER... Reliability seems to be lacking with their HDMI and HDCP implementation.
Excerpt: The RX-A830 is an exceptional value. It replaced an older surround sound amp and there is no comparison. I have been putting my RX-A830 through the paces and it is great to work with. There is a lot to learn when using a network receiver and I am enjoying new ways to hear and see my collection of media.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
