Summary: Home theater with Panasonic GT60, Dimension Technology speakers, Cerwin Vega 12" sub Clean crisp sound, improved picture quality from my older Onkyo (which didn't pass 3D). Only fault is with using DirecTV 3D programming. Oftentimes have to turn off Genie and back on to get receiver to recognize the 3D TV attached.
Pros: Airplay Automatic, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality, Presets Easy To Configure
Summary: This AVR replaces an Onkyo unit that failed after less than 3 years. Even at its best, the Onkyo never sounded this good. I am not an audiophile, but I enjoy hearing the sound effects in movies and games across all of the channels of my 7.1 system. The Yamaha does an outstanding job decoding these so that they sound bright and distinct. I can tell where things are coming from, even before I see them on the screen. This is the experience I was missing.
Pros: Great Sound Quality, Many Hdmi Inputs, Nice Osd Interface, Well built
Summary: I use the receiver with a parasound 5ch amp. It sounds great. I love controlling it with my phone app. The only thing I feel is the lack of volume maybe I'm death but I have ever to turn it up more than half the volume so it could sound descent. But that doesn't take away the outstanding sound this unit produces.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Energy Efficient, Great Sound Quality
Summary: I'm going to offer a few observations and if I'm wrong about these, please feel free to correct me. I have a house with a main 5-speaker zone and 3 other rooms on Zone 2. This works well with different sources for both zones, but the front panel user interface for that is poor. As it is for netradio, Sirius, and Pandora. it isn't impossible to work with one line display, but better software is needed here.
Summary: Initial setup of the device is a bit cumbersome. once you figure out the basics, everything is fine. I find the sound quality and dsp modes fantastic. I was very pleased by the stereo 'straight' mode as well as the 'pure direct' mode. After speaker/room calibration, I truly noticed a difference in 5.1 sound as well. excellent separation with very clear audio. You can customize almost every aspect of the A/V and still maintain independence when needed (i.e.
Pros: Av Switching Is Flawless, Excellent Sound Quality, Quality Construction
Cons: Could Use Me ~~~quot~~~scene~~~quot~~~s, Hard To Set Up
Summary: This was a replacement for my outdated RX-V2092. Bought it mainly for the HDMI switching and additional surround decoding, but this will never compare to the amplifier section of my old 2092. Sound quality is definitely better, most likely due to advancements in technology. Remote is horrible, poorly thought out, use only if needed. All in all, this is a very nice receiver and I have no significant complaints, especially for the price I found it for.
