Summary: This thing rocks! I have had it for a while, powering my home theater, but recently wired up two more zones in my house for sound. I am using an Android app on my smartphone to control the audio around the house - I can pick songs and playlists, adjust volume and DSP settings, change AM/FM stations, turn the thing on/off, you name it. Now I can listen to music on my deck or family room using the Yamaha as the central amp.
Summary: I've had this now for several months - No issue so far and the power is really great! It pushes my Klipsch RF-82 and RC-62 really nicely, no distortion, one of the smallest THD on the market in this price range. It's worth the money!
Summary: 5 stars for the "good" price on this 'new in box' home theater receiver. Dynamic service was great - unit arrived much quicker than advertised - most happy. Have set up the receiver and calibrated the speakers but have not even scratched the surface as far as really configuring any of the options. Had a 10 yr old JVC and can't believe the new things possible with this Yamaha. Highly recommend this toy - it will keep you entertained for years.
Receiver died after 3 months - can't get hold of Yamaha support.

Summary: I bought this from Amazon on Oct-20th because of the $1,050 price when the new model was released. I used this in a condo living room for general TV-watching and because of the environment it was never driven very hard. I kept the receiver on the top shelf of my audio rack so it had plenty of open space over-head for cooling, but the receiver also seemed a little hot.
Summary: I bought it for $1499.00 months ago, but right now only $1099.00, price decreased much bigger. The quality of sound is so so,I think that manufacturer and dealer both understood this machine is not valueable for that money.
Summary: I upgraded from the RX-V990 to this AVR. Multizone functionality is very nice. I like being able to use the iPhone app to control the other zones. The lack of AirPlay was not a huge deal. I have an Apple TV to make up for that. The next iteration, the RX-A2020 doesn't have Pandora, Sirius IR, etc etc. So I'm glad I didn't wait for it. YPAO is very useful. I switch between YPAO Flat equalization and manual. This unit has plenty of power.
Summary: This receiver is everything I expected it to be. I chose it because of past experience with Yamaha component systems. I wasn't dissapointed. There were some really good sales on other brands of comparable receivers, but only Yamaha would output into zones 2 and 3 from digital as well as analog input. I am glad I didn't go with those other receivers. The sound is crystal clear at ear-splitting volume with no hiccups from the device.
