Summary: I have owned Yamaha receivers for 9 years dating back to my first HTR-5660. I was always impressed that no matter how much I pushed the receiver, it would never distort. The louder the more impressive.
Summary: I have always wanted a Yamaha but always settled for something else. Which meant disappointment and a new receiver the following year or two. This time I bought one and now i can stop replacing. This receiver is well worth the price even with no discount. It won't disappoint.
Pros: Phone app control works really well and it is a fun conversation piece. Awesome sound quality. I run all of my CD's as MP3's through my network on the receiver. There is no need to Itunes or Media player except for playlists which is the easiest way i found to play music through it. Pandora is a ...
Cons: I have yet to discover one other than a con for me and why didn't i buy Yamaha years ago.
Pros: High quality parts and build, Power, many tweakable features, excellent sound reproduction. Bought this for 800 bucks retails for 1200.00 not a bad deal. First time buying an audio receiver from Newegg great as usual. I bought this to replace a
Cons: Only does 1080P up conversion not a big deal. No switching power outlet. Not really a con its pretty hefty in weight and size but this goes back to the build quality. These are minor gripes.
Summary: I spent many hours researching all of the different A/V receivers. The reviews appeared to put this one at the top. The store I purchased from (not Amazon) allowed me to compare this receiver to the other top receivers. The Yamaha clearly outclassed the others for audio.
Summary: I bought this receiver because my TV has no HDMI so I needed at least 3 component video inputs. It has 4. Also I wanted to downconvert audio signal to zone 2 without running analog cables and having to select a separate source for the 2nd zone. It works perfectly.
Pros: Diversity of Outputs and Inputs. Fantastic internet connectivity Ability to truly control device via laptop, iphone, android with excellent interfaces. Ability to downconvert digital audio to analog for 2nd zone
Cons: Does not output brief onscreen messages (volume change etc) via componenet video, only HDMI
Summary: Overall with the Great Newegg deal I got, I am completley satisfied! I would deffinitly go with another Yamaha in the future!
Pros: I reaserched for weeks before pulling the trigger. Looked at reviews on other sites and user expierence. This reciever is nice! Love all the functions when hooked up to the interwebs! Using my iPhone as a remote and streaming my iTunes from it too! Pandora is a real nice touch. I upgraded from a ...
Cons: Menu takes a little getting use to. The YPAO will more than likely have to be tweaked as I had to do to tune it like you want.
Summary: Wow, great selection of inputs for just about anything you want to hook up. Only input missing is that front panel should have a port for connecting your mobile device headphone out to the unit. Remote is not simple to use; takes practice to learn it.
Summary: Overall I like this receiver. The on screen display is great. The sounds is awesome. I have this unit paired with Definitive Tech ProMonitor 1000's, a ProCenter 2000 and a ProSub 1000. The seven channel 110W x 7 watts sounds amazing. I love Yamaha for all their different DSP modes.

Summary: This is an awesome unit. Crutchfield advisor recommended this unit as being the lowest-priced received to receive HD broadcasts but I found out after the purchase that the RX-A800 would also do this (at less than half the price!).
