Summary: I have owned Yamaha receivers for 9 years dating back to my first HTR-5660. I was always impressed that no matter how much I pushed the receiver, it would never distort. The louder the more impressive. Fast forward, 9 years, 2012, and with a little more buying power I needed to upgrade to HDMI capabilities to support blu ray and satellite (1080p). So I auditioned Denon, Marantz, Pioneer and Yamaha in the $1,000 price range at Best Buy's Magnolia showroom.
Summary: I love music, but I would not define myself as an audiophile. I do recognize that this unit produces clean, clear hi-fi sound. I bought it for all it was supposed to be able to do, for its features. I wanted 7.1 in the living room + another zone in the bedroom, but I cannot get this set up, and I will not bore you with the details except to say that the supplied mic does not detect the surround back speakers, although I can hear the test signals.
Summary: We bought this 9 months ago and love it. The sound quality is phenomenal, and using AV controller lets me turn on the system while outside from my android phone, adjust the volume, and also stream music directly to the outside speakers (zone 2) from my phone. No going inside to make adjustments. All this while my wife is inside watching TV in the living room using the same system(zone 1). We liked it so much we just bought the RX-A3010 for the media and game rooms.
Summary: This receiver is fantastic! I recently upgraded from an older Yamaha (RXV 667) which was also terrific, but I felt I needed a little more power to run my Definitive Tech speakers (BP6 fronts, CLR 2030 center, SM 350 surrounds) in my system. I'm also running a Martin Logan Dynamo 1000 sub, and on certain scenes, my sub was overpowering my fronts. Even after calibration, I noticed this, so I wanted a little more juice for the setup. Enter the A1010.
Summary: RX-a1010 Yamaha Receiver was been to authorized repair shop once for two problems. The distortion issue was reported, but not corrected. No amount of cool features makes having to leave television turned on to listen to music acceptable. Unit plays music from optically cabled Apple Airport Express perfectly as long as television connected to HDMI out is turn on. If I turn off the TV the sound becomes distorted and unlistenable.
Summary: Basically I did a lot of research on the best receivers and this one comes highly recommended. We wanted a receiver with great sound and a lot of power and we weren't disappointed. Connecting the receiver was a bit challenging and we almost called in a professional but we finally figured it out. Love all the features and would highly recommend it.
Summary: I finally got my Yamaha RXA1010 surround hooked up in my theater room. WOW!!!! This thing really sounds fantastic! It has all the features of much more expensive units on the market but at a reasonable price. Seens to be pretty easy to use and the on screen capability is impressive. Would definatly recommend this unit to anybody.
Summary: Does almost everything. Full HD audio/video switching. All controllable with a phone app; runs my 5.1 home theater, and sends audio signal to a zone 2 for my deck and patio. Built in apps like Pandora and Rhapsody. Sound quality and power are both good. Great purchase. Only got 4 stars as it doesn't quite compare to my higher end equipment, and it only offers a ethernet connnection (no wifi). But for mass produced audio components, it is top notch.
