  • Excerpt: After returning the new lower end (50W) Onkyo receiver I was pleased to once again purchase this higher end receiver. I still own the older RX-550 which after a minor repair is still going strong.
  • Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
  • Cons: Flimsy Fm Atenna

  • Excerpt: Very nice stereo receiver. Hard to find 2 channel stereo gear these days. Yamaha is still offering some nice gear. Purchased this receiver to use at the office. Local FM stations are clear on the supplied antenna. If connected to a proper antenna, I am sure the FM tuner section would shine.
  • Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality

Great Find

  • Excerpt: All I wanted was a simple stereo receiver, no av, dsp, and upteen things I have no use for. What I did need was the ability to run 2 pairs of speakers (A/B or both) and loudness compensation (hard to find these days). It has plenty of inputs available including a Phono input!
  • Pros: Accurate Controls, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality

Great integrated amp, plenty of power

  • Excerpt: I use this to play digital files (my flac library) and my vinyl collection (mostly jazz). Crisp highs, warm tight bass, even mids. The lateral soundstage is alright but this amp really shines at giving your songs depth. The subtlest echos and reverb decays are finely captured.

Excellent receiver for classical music

RickW, B&H Photo
14 February 2012
  • Excerpt: This receiver replaced a 38-year-old (twice rehabbed) Pioneer unit. Our musical diet is almost completely classical, from CDs and LPs (occasionally radio), and the receiver is driving very inefficient 5-ohm speakers.
  • Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Great Sound Quality, Versatile inputs
  • Cons: Confusing / Bad Remote Control

  • Excerpt: This receiver replaces 3 separate tube pieces from back in the 1960's. Tubes started going bad and I figured it was time to get something new. Unbelievable how clean and clear the sound is. Plenty of connectivity, though I wish it had optical digital audio inputs.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control
  • Cons: Limited Functions
