One of the GREAT AV Recievers - too bad they discontinued this model and type!!
K. Steere "Ken / Microbyte PC", Amazon
1 February 2013
Summary: For me it's been the perfect unit so far. I actually returned a newer model because they no longer include multichannl analog inputs like this one did. This was a super important feature for me as a musician. Tons of features! Great sound. Pros: Excellent design and functionality (vintage 2008) Support for analog multichannel inputs and outputs Cons: Does not support HDMI 1.3 (neither does my monitor, so no problem for me)
Summary: I currently have only left, right and center speakers but it distrubutes the sound in the room beautifully. The main reason I bought it is because of the extra hook ups for phono and tape deck which I still own. I agree with the other reviewers. The manual is hard to figure out in using some features. I have only owned it about a month and it has exceeded my expectations.
Summary: Combine this receiver with the Yamaha Speakers sold here at Amazon and you've got a theater surrond system that is better than the movie cinemas! The instruction manual is a little confusing and intimidating but thanks to my son in law who has an earlier version of this amplifier I was shaking the rafters in record time. If you get this receiver, here are a few tips.
Summary: While i purchased it thinking it did up conversion through the HDMI port (its not clear on most online descriptions), it didnt have it. It up converts through the component port. Setup was fairly easy once you understand its limitations. Each video input is attached to one each audio inputs. HDMI, OPTICAL, COAXIAL, ANALOG. Some other receivers i had let me remap my optical ins as i like, but not this one. In any event.
Summary: I compared all the best rated brands, along with their features & a price range of 350.00 to 550.00 used & new. The YAMAHA 6060 spec's for this price range easily beat out any competitor. It has all the bells & whistles you could ask for, & that includes you audophiles. Works 'fantastic' with all my old analoge as well as new digital audio & visual equipment. The 7.1 channel sound is clean & pure, putting you in the middle of the action.
Summary: One of the few new A/V receivers that has a truly usable & friendly remote control. On screen GUI makes set up (Auto or Manual) & modificatons a breeze. 9 speaker sound - woosh! A truly musical piece of equipment. Digital & Analogs recordings come alive. You can bring your vinly LP's & tapes new 7.1 channel surround sound. Phono input is a A+ bonus. Replaced Sony's 1997 DAG90ES top of the lne with this new receiver. This one is a much better unit & was 1200.00 cheaper.
Summary: I bought this receiver and installed it in a movie room for my mother and it works good. It has been in for about 6 months and no problems at all. The remote worked the dvd and satalite and even beleive it or not a vcr. would recomend yamaha receivers to anyone. I have a simular model at my house works perfect.
