Summary: I have a lot vinyl records and I was request a amplifier with this characteristic and Yamaha HTR 5790 was the perfect equipment for my home theater and listen my records. I am happy with this Yamaha.
Summary: I've had this receiver for more than 15 years and it has performed beyond expectation. Great home theater receiver. Thought about upgrading but could not find anything comparable. Hope it lasts another 15 years.
I am having problems with this unit, and i will find why.

Summary: it died, it worked for about 24hrs then went dead.I bought the reciever to upgrade system. did well,while using the receiver it shut off,and well not come back on at all. also was sent the wrong manual,i got a manual on something that was not related to the purchased item.
Summary: I've been a fan of Yamaha audo equipment for some time now, and decided to take the plunge and upgrade to a THX system. I'm running a Klipsch KV-1 center and 4 KG-5s for lef/right and surrounds, with a Boston Acoustics CR400 sub - that's right, I'm only set up for 5.1 channel sound right now.
Summary: I bought this a little over a year ago, and have been very pleased with its performance. I wanted to start off right when updating my very antiquated Dolby box receiver and go to DTS-ES and 5.1 EX with THX certification.
Summary: This is the second Yamaha reciever that I have owned. I replaced my other one since it was bought right before dolby digital became available. The Yamaha HTR 5790 is incredible in every respect.
Summary: Checking the Yamaha web pages for the HTR-5790 140 Watts per channel and 110 watts per channel are both correct measured at 1kHz@8Ohms and 20Hz-20kHz@8Ohms respectivly. According to Yamaha 0.04% total harmonic distortion @8Ohms is correct.
