Summary: I've had this stereo for over 5 years and it still sounds great with Harmon Kardon speakers. If the receiver is half and the speakers are the other half then I have a whole system. This is a system for those that appreaciate all types of music even hard rock without having to bring down this house.
Summary: We bought this unit in August 2002, and have had it hooked up to Klipsch speakers & a Mitsubishi 65" HDTV. We've only ever used it for audio, & we've been very happy with it. It's still working just fine. We aren't extreme audiophiles, but we enjoy decent audio.
Summary: I bought this receiver 2 years ago and have been generally very happy with it. Unfortunatly, about 2 weeks ago it started producing a buzz/ distorted playback. I have taken very good care of it so I was quite suprised to have a problem after only 2 years.
Summary: My wife and I were new to home theater systems. We bought our home roughly 2 years ago. We were very excited that the previous owner was going to throw in the boss speaker system, but we did not know the first thing about receivers. Well me being the way I am, I began researching.
Summary: Like other reviewers, I looked at many other models before choosing this receiver. My local audio shop had a great lisenting room set up with multiple receivers for comparison, and compare I did!
Summary: Yamaha builds some of the longest lasting amps out there in the market, I'm not sure what this guy below is talking about. I own one HTR 5550, and it's been working nothing but wonders for my system.
Summary: I'm not going to damn this receiver, but... 1. I was told by someone else that the sound has a hiss in it. It does at higher volume levels, but is very noticeable. 2. Someone else told me the sound was a little "thin." It is, but has good clarity. 3.
Summary: This is the kind of receiver that gives you lots of functionalities while not giving up on sound quality. The receiver itself is very well built, you can expect it to last quite a few years. First I have to comment on the sound. The first thing I noticed when I got it, was that this thing is Loud!
Summary: I only have 2 speakers in my living room and they are not particularly good ones. This receiver makes it sound like a modern movie theater! I returned the Sony, I was having trouble installing it, it was too complex to use and the documentation stinks.
