Good receiver

  • Summary: I bought it for about 30 dlls. because it has a small issue, but after it was repaired works good, it is not the best I ever had but it's a decent one, it decodes Dolby Digital and DTS and have a phono input too, it doesn't have pre-amp outputs but is still useable if you connect it trough the tape inputs/outputs and use the tape monitor feature. If you need a good amplifier with some extra features at not too high price this is for you.

Expect at least 10 years of fine service

  • Summary: The remote is nice. The functionality is nice. It lacks HDMI switching, but you can always use your monitor for that. It does have S-Video switching. I think basic Direct TV and most HD cable boxes have S-Video. This model has hard switching for the audio. The earlier 500 series had soft switching and there was a tiny bit of bleed-through. The radio and front buttons are very intuitive. I love the remotes for the Yamaha receivers.

  • Summary: Yamaha's natural series amps are the best for clear sound that envelopes the hearing. I highly recomend their products.
