SWEET!!! A BREEZE TO SET UP, COMPARED TO EARLIER MODELS!

Summary: A breeze to set up, compared to earlier models! The integrated monitor/TV onscreen menu allows for configuration and fine tuning with ease. All my components (gaming consoles/satellite/etc) are connected HDMI with UHD and 3-D pass through.
Summary: This turned out to be a GREAT receiver. It seemed the DN1050 was a DOWNGRADE from this and even better, with the release of the DN1050, this was a hundred buck cheaper. To bad these are NOW hard to find.
Summary: I bought this because my 3 year old receiver got fried by a power surge. Clearly, the technology has advanced quite a bit in those 3 years. This unit is great and the cost of it was pretty much equivalent to the cost of repairing the fried Yammer.
A GREAT receiver that MANY rejoice over and FEW struggle with

Summary: I read about the HDMI "handshake" issues AFTER I bought this receiver. I then too experienced this problem. Then I read the manual correctly. Under the EXTREMELY WELL designed GUI is a setting to change "HDMI input selection speed". It has the settings "OFF" and "Auto".
Summary: Very easy operation and outstanding sound quality. Most of our audio now streams via Bluetooth from iPhones and this has been well beyond expectations. Sound quality is well-balanced. I'm really happy we bought it!

Summary: I have not had any HDMI problems. When I setup receiver I made sure that HDMI cable going to TV was not crossing over any other cable or wires. I also made the investment of buying an OEM SONY HDMI cable so I wouldn't have any problems.
Summary: I didn't buy from Amazon, but I had to comment and let people know that what ever issues this receiver was having it's been fixed. I love this thing. I have a Xbox one, 64" Samsung 8500 3d Plasma tv and a 3D Blu-ray player connected to it.
Pros: I choose this receiver because this one supports 4k. It has plenty HDMI port, and the sound quality is better than I expected. The price is not that expensive compare to the others that supports 4k. I think it is a very good deal.
Cons: none so far. However, I don't like the remote control. But, I guess it is not a big deal.
Summary: GLAD I replaced my Pioneer 1019 with this Sony 1040!
Pros: Numero UNO: The SOUNDs are unbelievable from this AVR - it's the BEST AVR I have ever owned! I am now hearing things that I never knew existed in ads and sound tracks. Also - Bonus for me is being able to receive/listen to Pandora and other OTA Radio too.
Cons: Unable to synch up remote with the DTV Remote so I have to use both remotes [volume/mute]
