Summary: I purchased a massive $1600 Onkyo PR SC855 pre-amp in about 2008. That was coupled with a Carver Sunfire Cinema Grand 5 channel amp, and at one time powered a dedicated home theater that was the envy of all my friends. Then I got a much smaller home and downsisized to just three front speakers. Then 2 weeks ago the Onkyo quit transmitting the video signals - only audio would come through into my 60 inch Sharp TV.
It's a great unit if you can handle the size of the remote.

Summary: Excellent piece of equipment for the money. Two cons would be that the Remote is HUGE and the other is that the menus are primitive with no graphics. The sound is great, it works great with me Blue-ray Player, Laptop, and TV. I am not sure how well it works with Mobile devices yet. It also has built in wireless for the system functions.
The remote on this thing is so complex you need ...

Summary: The remote on this thing is so complex you need a masters degree to use it. I only have a bachelors in Computer Science so it's beyond me. If you press the wrong button, the whole thing can go south and you have to do a factory reset to use it again. Come on! Also one of the inputs went dead on me. I hope my warrantee is still in effect.
Summary: Really like this A/V receiver. Very flexible with lots of capability. Easily integrates with other components, especially other Sony products. I use the second zone to feed an amp for playing music on on my patio and game room. I can control the music via Air Play so I don't have to run inside to change stations or fiddle with settings. Still discovering all the capability of this unit. Surround sound is excellent through Polk Audio speakers.
Has all the features you are looking for and I would highly recommend it.

Summary: The STR-DN1030 is not the right receiver for multi-zone applications, or audiophiles who want robust EQ options or 7.1 channel pre-outs. It is, however, a great choice for an average consumer who wants extremely solid single-room performance. The host of network features, HDMI upconversion, solid auto setup mic, built in Bluetooth and WiFi, up to 7.2 surround sound support, and good sound quality make this receiver stand out from the crowd.
Summary: Ok - I've had this receiver for about 2 years now and I love it. I dug through many reviews to find this information, so let me save you the digging: this can be configured to turn on when it gets airplay audio (and automatically switch to AirPlay as a source). Also, the iOS app allows you to totally control it via WiFi which is huge b/c we love to hide our stereo equipment. I hope this helps.
Best receiver I've owned so far - it is packed with features
5 March 2014
Summary: This is the best A/V receiver that I've owned so far. I've owned an Onkyo TX-SR606 and a Sony STRDH520 in the past. This receiver pumps out better sound and has ten times the number of features. I'll skip going in to too much detail about things like the 5 HDMI inputs, the wattage, and the other bullet points that are clearly listed in the extensive product description here on Amazon.
