Summary: Overall, it is a nice unit and fairly easy to program. However, within the first 12 months the unit stopped switching to the selected A/V input. I returned the unit for warranty repair and the same problem occurred again about 10 months later. This unit is at the center of my entertainment system - between all of my A/V devices and the display. When it isn't working, the whole system is down for 2-4 weeks.
Horrible instructions and set up procedures...sounds great when done.

Summary: The unit sounds great. I am extremely unimpressed with how complicated it was to set up and is to navigate through menus. VERY VERY NON user friendly. I have been told Sony has a language and format almost their own... I have avoided Sony for YEARS because I believe they have been getting by on name only. The reason I bought this product was the price and it had a high rating. There were several complaints regarding the setup which I ignored..
Good value, good features, average sound quality, Ipod dock discontiued

Summary: I purchased this to downsize my system in our kitchen, and simplify things for my wife. For the price, it has a good number of featurs, including auto HDMI 3.1 switching. Whatever component that is on is automatically selected and signal is sent to TV and Audio (ie Computer, DVD, Blu Ray).Previously I was using a Lexicon MC-1 preamp and Rotel RB-985 amp,and you can definately hear the difference.
Price good, very basic. Drop 300 more and get a better one.

Summary: So far; so alright. No real issues as of yet. Set up is a breeze for anyone with basic knowledge. **FYI** make sure you get the correct remote that belongs to receiver. The STR I purchased came packaged with the wrong remote and I had to contact Sony and have the correct one mailed. After set up and auto cali was finished I noticed that in order to get the true effect of this receiver you virtually have to turn the volume to mid 30s to get a "moderately big sound" out of...
Summary: I bought this receiver in order to connect multiple HDMI sources to a DLP Link capable 3D projector. Everything works, except the 3D. I have used an Optoma 3D-XL 3D box, with either a PC, or PS3 as the 3D media source. These work perfectly well with the reciver out of the picture....literally. If you attempt to use the receiver with 3D Content (eg Despicable Me 3D on a PS3) you get audio only, with a blank green screen projected.
