Summary: I have never regretted purchasing Sony products. From alarm radios to televisions, personal recording devices to audio equipment, the quality is outstanding. This STR-DN1000 became available just before the Holidays and it was too good to pass up. Excellent sound/receiving and the SIRIUS addition was a neat extra. We have the receiver hooked up to the HDTV (yep, it's a Sony too) and it produces tremendous, clear quality sound.
Summary: I bought this as a replacement for a mid end ONKYO stereo receiver that died and I havent been this happy with a sony product since I got my first walkman. The 7.1 sounds amazing with my polk subwoofer and matching speakers.
Summary: The unit stopped sending a signal to the speakers after 6 months of light use. The worst thing, however, is the service. After having wasted a few weeks of time, they told me that they "could not reproduce the problem". How difficult is it to connect it to a player and a set of speakers? Still having my doubts that my speakers were to blame I ordered another receiver. The speakers are working perfectly.
Summary: Great amp, use it for 7.1. Infinity 800 series speakers. Paired it with a sony blu ray player and sony 55 inch Bravia. Amazed at the sound quality for the price. I was able to pick the STR DN1000 up on Ebay for $300.00. You really can't beat it. I am very picky about surround sound but this component is sure to impress.
Summary: Great product, especially for the price(under $300). It has all the features I need and then some. I haven't even had a chance to get around to using all of the features. I haven't had any problems, concerns, questions or anything else to speak of. I would recommend this product to anyone. SONY.... You can't go wrong with SONY!
Doesn't work with Blu-Ray 3D, speaker cables too hard to plug
Rodulfo Araujo Matus "Rod", Amazon
20 November 2010
Summary: It has a good sound, and the autocalibrating feature is great, once you decipher the manual, which is really unfriedly. The cables are plug into screws and hold by and act of God, they are so easy to come off, and the area in which you have to manouver with 14 separate cables is really tiny. It takes more than an hour to be able to plug all speakers correctly.
Summary: Overall great, only problem is I have not figured out how to make my remote work the TV or the Dish rec. I think electronics are getting too complcated to use these days. With upscaling the picture on older standard tv looks much better. I also have a 37 inch sony XBR TV.
Summary: After about a month, the receiver started going into protect mode. The volume would not be turned up loud at all, and I would have to turn off the receiver and then power it back on. Picked up a Denon to replace this unit and now the Sony collects dust. I would suggest people google this model and protect mode to get some ideas what they "could" be getting into.
