Summary: Took a chance on Amazon's Warehouse deals with this Sony STRDH820 7.2 channel receiver. It was described used - like new and about half the cost. Everything was still in its original packaging and looked like it was never touched. This unit synced up easily with my Vizio E551VA HDTV, and my Sony BDPS470 Blueray player.
Summary: I am using this amp with the following: XBOX 360S Wii LG 55" LED Passive 3D TV 55LW5600 LG BD670 Bluray Player Polk Monitor 70 x2 (front right and left) Polk Monitor 30 x4 (surround R/L and Back Surround R/L) Polk PSW505 12" Subwoofer Polk CSM 2-way center channel I got this to replace a Pioneer VSX series amp (it finally died). This outperforms the Pioneer handily. The auto calibration feature is the only complaint I have.
Summary: Reading the reviews about Sony's STRD820 7.2 3D AV receiver on Amazon, some good some bad but mainly good, so I decieded to check it out for myself. Let me tell you, this receiver has it all, and the price is right. People that purchased this receiver found it overwhelming and confusing because of the multitude of features. let me put your mind at ease, it is not.
Summary: Update: Iphone/ipod dock is capable of playing music and video, but I was disappointed that you can't look at your photos via your iphone. Bummer. If anyone has a solution, except for dowloading to computer, and using USB, let me know. I also had to only power cycle once (unplug for a minute) to fix my unreponsive tuner. All else is good. I should take half star off!
Here is the way the inputs work and a warning about the remote

Summary: I have one STR-DH820. You can assign up to 6 video inputs. You have 4 HDMI inputs (BD/DVD), GAME, SAT/CATV and VIDEO1, and you have 3 CVBS (Composite Video) and 2 more COMPONENT video INPUTs (Assignable). Well, AFAIK, the CVBS are not assignable, so they are mutually exclusive with the HDMI. If you look in the back of the receiver, each CVBS share the same name with one of the HDMI inputs. If you plug a HDMI, the CVBS that has the same name is ignored.
Cannot beat the features and quality for the money!!!

Summary: So to start this off review i just want to say this receiver for the money is untouchable. Sure there are much better receivers out there. But i really had a hard time justifying spending the extra money for the same features. Basically when i was looking to purchase this receiver i compared it to three other receivers: 1.) Pioneer VSX921K 2.) Yamaha RX-V667 3.
Summary: For the cost you can not go wrong with this receiver. I just replaced a Sony STR-DG520 with this receiver and I can hear a significant improvement. I'm running it in a 5/2 configuration bi-amping the front speakers. Using Polk Audio Monitor 40 for the front, Polk Audio CS20 center, some old Sony satellite surround speakers, Polk audio psw505 12"sub and an older Sony 8" sub. The additional power this unit has over the DG520 can definitely be heard.

Summary: Finally upgraded to Audio/Visual receiver with HDMI inputs and output. I was previously using a Yamaha receiver and hooking up TV through traditional audio inputs L/R channels. It was a bit of setup to get sound out of speakers when watching a movie or anything else. Now with the new Sony AV Receiver, it is seamless. Right now, only using the receiver in a 2.0 configuration, meaning only left and right front channels.
