Summary: Good analog->HDMI upconvert capabilities That was the main thing I was looking for- a single switch unit that controls all the various inputs (VCR, DVD, Cable, & iPod audio input). It also has good basic AVR surround sound options.
Summary: Great features, pretty good sound at a reasonable price. I'm not a super audiophile but I do know the difference between entry level to very high-end audio equipment. I'd say this receiver is probably in the upper mid-range of quality which is good enough for me.
Summary: For the price it was a great deal - Best buy wanted $449.00 - I paid total of 308 including shipping (was listed for 287) - Since this purchase (and i trust sony products anyway) I've been comparing prices between Best Buy (and others) and Brand new (out of the box) with amazon vendors - WOW!!! - what a mark up Best Buy and others are charging!!! - I have Bose surround sound speakers hooked up and the receiver works great and sounds great.
Summary: (See the update in the next paragraph, after this initial review) I bought this receiver Sept. 6 2011, and it quit in Feb. 2012. I really liked this receiver, it sounded good, held all of my audio/video, and I was watching TV in surround sound and I heard a POP noise, and the receiver shut down. I checked all of the connections going to and from the receiver, and everything was fine except the receiver.
Summary: After 3 to 4 weeks of experience with this receiver, which replaced a 5-year-old Sony 800 unit, the upgrade in performance is remarkable. I miss the A.C. outlets on the back and expected it to have HD radio, which were a bit disappointing. Added a Blu-Ray player at the same time, and 7.1 surround is everything I hoped for. Standard DVDs and even cable TV sound almost as good through this receiver as does the Blu-Ray.
Summary: This is a female review, not that it matters. I had an easy time setting this up by myself and it works great. I have my TV/Bluray/cable/soundbar hooked up to it and the sound is very good. The remote was really easy to to set up also as a universal.
Summary: This is my second Sony receiver. After the first one some years ago I switched to Onkyo which sounded better at the time. The DH810 sounds good, better than my older Sony and compares to the previous Onkyo receiver for sound quality. I bought this because I needed HDMI inputs and switching and it works with my Sony TV. So far I'm pleased.
Summary: I have owned this reciever for over a year now. It does everything I expected it to do when I purchased it. I am even running the S-air rear speakers and am very happy with the performance. I recently added a Sony 3d TV and can not get 3d content to play through the reciever. I use a PS3 for my BluRays. If I plug the PS3 into the TV 3d works fine, if I run it through the reciever it won't play 3d.
