Summary: This A/V unit is OK, and does the job. I had it paired with a Sony TV and had no problems. Recently I've paired it with a Samsung Smart TV, a Samsung BluRay player and a Direct TV Satellite receiver. The Sony receiver works with each of the other units but switching back and forth is complicated.
Summary: If anyone is trying to connect this receiver in 7.1 with "front high" speakers be sure to use PLIIz mode. It took me about 3 hours to figure this out. Page 34 of the manual says if you are using "front high" or "surround back" to turn on speaker B "SP B or SP A B" via "SB ASSIGN".
Summary: Had to send it back to Sony for repairs after 7 months of light use. It stopped transferring video signal first and then audio, too. I had to pay for shipping to send it in to Sory Repair Services.
Pros: Decent sound. No problems when working. Speaker calibration capable.
Cons: Some digital display items are very hard to read (too small).
Summary: I don't believe Sony knows which direction they are going in with this S-Air proprietary technology. They sure do not let their reps know. It would be nice if the Sony rep had some more knowledge of their product as well.
Pros: Sound is good. Good deal for the price. Has S-Air capability for wireless rear surround speakers. Multiple HDMI inputs. Doesn't run hot.
Cons: Manual is not the easiest to follow. Still trying to figure out how to increase the sound level in just the center channel.
