Summary: I like the features and quality of sound as I am a picky listener. Former sound engineer so I do like my music clean and loud. This puppy delivers both. I'm running 9 speakers total using the 7.2 setup with two sub woofers. I havent cranked it wide open yet as I'm afraid it might blow some of my speakers that are not able to handle the power.
Summary: It's just OK for my set up. I lose on this purchase. I thought that I could finally switch HDMI video from my sources to our 2004 (ancient) Sony 57" projection TV. We do not use it much and the video is really outstanding. Not worth throwing away just because it is old. The color and sharpness is equal to our LG 47" LCD/LED TV.
Everything is fine but really these units are so complicated that simple ...

Summary: Everything is fine but really these units are so complicated that simple changes require getting out the guidebook every time. While the complexity of options make it possible to do everything, it seems to me that the engineers might figure out what 95% of folks are going to do with it, and make these functions the most intuitive and obvious, while still retaining the functions that a few might use.
Summary: The marketing for this receiver is dishonest. It does not support HDMI 2.0 or 4k. I tried to hook up 4k input through this receiver, and it did not work until I connected directly to the TV. When I contacted Sony's customer support for advice on how to make it work, they were clueless on how to even answer the most basic questions. Even if the receiver did not support HDMI, it could potentially support a lower framerate at 4k, but even that was not an option.
Summary: This device sounded great, I have always liked Sony products. My issue was that it would shut off on it's own when I was using it. I thought it was the auto shut down (for lack of use) so I waited and I was actually using the device and it shut down. Then it wouldn't turn back on for a while. It wasn't heat or anything, I thought of that too. This happened more than once so I returned it.
way smoother and better balanced using the same speakers

Summary: This unit replaced a 5 year old Denon. The sound is simply outstanding; way smoother and better balanced using the same speakers. I have the unit in 5.1 configuration with the biamp enabled. The front L/R never sounded so good. I'm amazed a how much more distinct the voices are. The volume balance between actors voices and background music or sound effects isHUGELY better than the Denon. Great value edit:Been a couple of weeks and I like it even more.
Summary: Great receiver for the price! I have this in use in my DIY home theater. Great clear sound, lots of power for the $$. Can tune in crossover points for each channel and adjust each individual speaker throw. Lots of great options. Love the USB input, all I have to do is load up a USB stick with as many MP3's as it will hold and plug it in and I have a juke box.
Summary: This receiver is a bargain. Its equipped with enough features for my needs. I mainly bought this because my old A/V receiver doesn't have HDMI ports, until I found this sony A/V receiver, it has 4 HDMI port (just enough for my setup, and it has 4k pass through, great for in advance system that has 4k). I am not an power user who needs a lot of feature or setup. this is more than enough for me.
Summary: This receiver replaced a Pioneer that gave up the ghost after only a year of usage. (That receiver is here: Pioneer VSX-524-K Audio and Video Component Receivers ) I'm extremely happy with this receiver after 2 months. It's design in line with our other Sony receiver ( Sony STRDH520 7.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver (Black) (Discontinued by Manufacturer) ) purchased at the same time as the pioneer.
