Sony STRDH540 5.2-channel 4K A/V HD Receiver (Refurbished)

Nancy J., Overstock
25 March 2015
 • Summary: I really like the Sony STR AV Receiver line. I had another STRDN1040 which worked like a champ. I received that new. I purchased this one from Overstock as refurbished and the bad news is that it failed. The good news is that it was still within the 90-day warranty.

Great!... when it worked.

E.M. Browne "erichitscar", Amazon

 • Summary: Worked Great.... for a month. Really like the on screen programing, and anything attached via HDMI powers up the unit when turned on. cool feature! The video and sound quality was excellent when it worked. 4K compatible! Sadly the HDMI video out stopped working one day, no reason or warning.

Sony STRDH540 5.2-channel 4K A/V HD Receiver (Refurbished)

hardwood69, Overstock
5 January 2015
 • Summary: I couldn't wait for this receiver to be delivered. I hooked it up to my components with HDMI cables and used a fiber audio cable from the TV to the Sony receiver and used a coax to the subwoofer behind my couch. We tested with Planet Of The Apes and the performance was incredible.

Bob Hughes, Nebraska Furniture Mart
11 November 2014
 • Excerpt: This unit is totally amazing. For little more than the price of some all in one's that barely do the job, this unit gives you everything you could ever want.

I have a Dish Hopper, a Home Theater PC, A Old school VCR all running into this.
 • Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Energy Efficient, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Flexibility, Great Sound Quality, Highly Customizable

This receiver has served me well enough for a while ...

Adam Penner, Amazon
22 October 2014
 • Summary: This receiver has served me well enough for a while now but it does have one issue, or at least my specific unit does. Sometimes it turns off and on, even going as far and getting stuck in and off/on loop. It doesn't happen all that often so I've grown to deal with it.

great av for the price if you know how to configure it right

mateofive, Amazon
17 October 2014
 • Summary: great av for the price, for me it just sounds and works perfectly. I wouldn't just use the auto configuration with the microphone... I always have to manual setup to get it right. One of the features that I love most about this av is the pure audio function, it shuts off the display in the receiver...

Not worth the money

Mahmood R., Newegg
11 October 2014
 • Summary: Looking back, I should not have purchased a refurbished receiver/amp. Or I should have bought a different brand. It's not worth money. I've had it for 7 months and HDMI DVD port is not working.
 • Pros: Good sound/amplification
 • Cons: DVD HDMI stopped working.

Conveniently discontinued.

Ryan Moroco, Amazon
27 September 2014
 • Summary: Conveniently discontinued by the manufacturer. Haven't even owned it a full year and it's shot. Turns on for maybe five seconds before it dies. Tried to have it replaced but that's a no go. Do yourself a favor and buy one that's still in production.

Sony STRDH540 5.2

dinh l., Newegg
9 September 2014
 • Summary: Would buy it again if the price is under $200. I cant give this a 5 stars because there are more better recievers than this.
 • Pros: Bought this a year ago for $180 on sale. Works great till now.
 • Cons: When it gets up to 90% of the volume sometimes it goes into protection mode. I rarely go up to 70-80%.

Great system

Amazon Customer "blemon", Amazon
12 August 2014
 • Summary: This is a great system. I installed my home theater system about 14 years ago, so I needed a receiver/amplifier with standard RCA audio/video inputs/outputs. My Aiwa system was fried in an electrical surge, and I looked long and hard for a suitable replacement.
